POSITION SUMMARY:
The Master Production scheduler is responsible for master production scheduling for the Houston Manufacturing facility and the management of inventory to optimize on-time delivery, equipment utilization and sales volume. This position plays a critical role in advising senior management on capacity constraints and production lead times. This position will require strong communication skills, critical thinking, decision making, and consistency. The plant will rely on this position for both long-term resource/capacity planning and daily production scheduling to be successful.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create, maintain, and effectively communicate a production plan (long term) for the Houston plant that optimizes OTD, equipment utilization, and maintains best-in industry lead times on our core products by:

Developing a fabric sales forecast using historical data and sales/marketing input

Identify and help mitigate capacity constraints

Identify underutilized assets and work with sales to “push” the right volumes at the right time

Develop a monthly production plan that optimizes utilization and puts FSG in a position to win with low lead times and high customer service levels

Hold regular monthly reviews to compare sales and production actuals vs plans. Identify gaps that impact our objectives and influence sales & manufacturing leadership to mitigate
Create, maintain, and effectively communicate a daily production schedule for each department in the Houston plant that optimizes OTD and equipment utilization:

Based on the longer-term production plan, establish inventory targets for stock/core items to maintain excellent stock availability year-round

Analyze forecasts, incoming orders, and stock inventory position to create an achievable production schedule

The production schedule should prioritize core/stock products to reduce changeovers and optimize uptime

The master scheduler should reserve capacity for core products when necessary, based on inventory positions, forecast and backlog. Lead times should be used as a tool to limit incoming orders against the plant for non-stock/core products when capacity is constrained

The daily production schedule should be at least 1 month forward-looking?

Review the production schedule with all necessary functions to understand impact of headcount variations, preventative maintenance schedules, etc...

Communicate production plan with all interested parties through daily & weekly production meetings.
Maintain and communicate accurate dates for when inventory will be available for shipment against customer orders;

This information should be up-to-date and readily accessible for all interested parties to reduce the amount of email/phone traffic

Collaborate with plant customer service team to ensure this process is smooth
Analyze, establish, and communicate fabric lead times that support the branches in customer quoting efforts;

Lead times should take into consideration backlog, inventory position, and upcoming forecasts so we can reserve capacity for the necessary amount of core product volume
Other Objectives:

Participate in physical inventory and cycle counting activities

Support MRP implementation
Requirements:
REQUIRED SKILLSETS/EXPERIENCE
- Enjoys collaboration with others.
- Communicates effectively to all levels of the organization. Will look for ways to improve the speed and effectiveness of communication
- Familiar with working in large data sets and building reports and excel analyses to visualize data and use the data to make decisions
- Comfortable collaborating with various departments (i.e. Quality, Production, Distribution, Sales, etc.) to achieve results
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
- Direct supply chain, production planning and/or manufacturing experience
- Advance proficiency with Microsoft Excel and production planning systems such as MRP/ERP
- Critical/analytical and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable and adaptable in a dynamic work environment
- High attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines as required with as strong sense of urgency
- Ability to prioritize and deliver results based on deadlines
