Position Summary:
The Summer Camp Director is responsible for the recruitment of AstroCamp counselors, hiring and supervision of counselors; directing and supervision of all camp recreational programs.

Duties & Responsibilities
_ Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions: _
- Plan a counselor program, in concert with the Facility Director, to reflect camp goals.
- Recruit through phone calls, and conduct interviews with potential candidates. Work with Paycom and Human Resources to get them hired and onboarded using the correct GDI procedures.
- Prepare and conduct pre-camp and in-service training for counselors.
- Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment and arrange for proper distribution. Keep within summer camp budget.
- Set up and supervise the opening and closing day procedures for counselor staff and campers.
- Develop routines, schedules and procedures for camp operation.
- Assist in program development.
- Assign staff activities and other responsibilities.
- Assign staff and campers to cabins or groups.
- Oversee all evaluations of camp programs, operations and counselor staff.
- Monitor crisis management plan including emergency procedures.
- Evaluate counselor staff and assist in setting expectations and objectives.
- Attend regular meetings with administrative staff and Camp Directors.
- Be able to respond to emergency situations when necessary.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Facility Director.
Other Responsibilities/Supportive Functions:
- Must be able to effectively work with the campers, directors and other staff.
- Cognitive and communication abilities to develop, plan, organize, train and implement the summer counselor program.
- Assist in orientation and training programs and discuss important details to the counselor group.
- Good communication and organization skills are necessary to ensure a good experience for the staff and campers.
- Be able to respond to emergency situations by providing the leadership necessary to enact the Emergency Procedure Plan.
- Good physical health with mobility, and visual and auditory skills to maintain control of campers in a variety of environments.
- Ability to drive a vehicle if necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- BA or BS in camp administration or related degree (or previous camp management experience.)
- Must be a self-starter and able to work with limited instruction, but able to take direction as necessary.
- Must have strong communication and human relation skills.
- Must have good organizational skills to plan and organize all staff procedures.
- Ability and experience in supervising staff and campers.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is mandatory.
- Desire to live and work in remote camp community.
- Desire to work with children and adults and ability to supervise them in related activities.
- Good character, integrity, flexibility and adaptability.
- Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control.
- Must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

The employee member is subject to environmental conditions found working indoors/outdoors. The employee member is frequently subject to extreme heat, with temperatures up to 110 degrees while moving around in and outside of camp. The employee member is frequently subject to loud noise when working in or around the camp. The employee member is subject to hazards which include proximity to moving mechanical parts, equipment found in kitchens and food service areas, sharp objects, and exposure to cleaning chemicals and animals. Other hazards may include slick floors and hot stoves, cookware, plate ware or glassware. The employee member is occasionally subject to atmospheric condition such as fumes, odors, or dusts.

Salary Range: 73,000.00-75,000.00 Annual
