Title: Laboratory Instrument Technician
Job Description:
We are seeking a meticulous and self-sufficient Laboratory Instrument Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, possess a strong sense of initiative, and be proficient in Excel. While lab experience is advantageous, we are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates the necessary aptitude and eagerness to learn.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operate and maintain laboratory instruments including Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), Flow Injection Analysis (FIA), and combustion systems.
2. Perform routine calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
3. Prepare and analyze agricultural soil samples according to established protocols and procedures.
4. Collect, record, and manage experimental data accurately and efficiently using Excel or other designated software.
5. Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure timely completion of testing procedures and accurate reporting of results.
6. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
7. Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels of consumables and reagents and placing orders as needed.
8. Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge in agricultural testing methodologies and laboratory techniques.
9. Maintain cleanliness and organization of laboratory workspaces in compliance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Prior experience working in a laboratory setting is advantageous but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
