Prechool Lead Teacher
Jill's House Intergenerational Preschool is seeking an experienced teachers to co-teach in our 1-2 year old classroom, infant classroom, and preschool classroom. We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated teachers who value a play based, emergent curriculum. We practice positive discipline and compliance with that is a must. We are a reggio emilia inspired early learning program with a focus on project-based learning.
Our program focuses on the individual - respect and tolerance are at the core of what we do. We believe each child is a unique individual that deserves our respect and attention. Our teachers act as facilitators, observers and social navigators. We believe in giving children autonomy and the confidence to explore as an independent individual. Children's play is core to learning, and our teachers use invitations/provocations to meet the needs of the class in a hands-on way while adhering to the Indiana Early Learning Foundations.
The current hours are 7:30 - 5:30pm. To apply you must have a current CDA, Associates degree in Early Childhood Education, or a Bachelor's degree with at least 15 credit hours in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
Job Duties Include:
- Weekly lesson planning with co-teacher, in line with Indiana Early Learning Foundations
- Plan developmentally appropriate, play-based lessons focused on children's interests and ability levels
- Weekly newsletter to parents
- Daily face to face communication with parents
- Positive communication with parents and coworkers
- Completing a developmental assessment tool and learning stories to document children's progress as a learner
- Hosting bi-annual parent-teacher conferences
- Participating in a minimum of 20 hours of professional development each year
- Adhere to and practice all standards of a Level 3 Paths to Quality Program
- Strong familiarity with Early Learning Foundations and implementing them in a play-based lesson plan
- Willingness and initiative to participate in Paths to Quality level advancement
- Training and guiding assistant teachers
- Strong command of positive discipline, emergent curriculum, and redirection
- Practicing heightened safety, cleaning and sanitizing procedures in response to COVID-19
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Diapering and assisting with toileting
- Passion for continuity of care and best practices
- Able to care for up to ten toddlers with a teaching team
- Strong understanding of state licensing and PTQ regulations
