Here is what you can expect in your role as Warehouse Supervisor – also known as responsibilities:
- Follows established operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current
- Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment both inside and outside
- Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as sales and purchasing
- Takes active role in reducing shrinkage whenever and wherever possible
- Maintains positive interactions with customers, Sales Representatives, Sales Estimators, Installation Managers, company Drivers, and other company management
- Responsible for overall appearance and cleanliness of warehouse
- Location dependent: may carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws to include:
- Ensure that no material leaves or enters the warehouse without proper documentation
- Ensure the collection of customer signatures when and where appropriate
- Oversee order fulfillment or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and ensure proper distribution
- Interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Work with Human Resources on pay policy as it pertains to timecard review and approval
- Strong communication skills – written and verbal
What You Bring to the Table:
- Ability to work 5 days per week/40 hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-4:00pm
- Ability to travel to other warehouses in region
- Valid driver's license
- Minimum 3 years of warehouse experience
- Previous supervisory experience necessary
- Comprehensive understanding and use of technology while working with customers, including computer and software skills, Microsoft Excel and Word experience
- Able to consistently demonstrate Avalon’s values and 51% characteristics
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues and customers
- Able to identify and solve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, and develop alternative solutions

Physical demands
In performing the job of a Warehouse Supervisor, the employee must stand and walk for an 8+ hour shift. Additionally, the position requires frequent grasping, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and handling of fragile packages that typically weigh up to 55 lbs. and occasionally weigh up to 80 lbs. with hands and arms. Moderate hand-eye coordination, near vision, far vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, adjusting focus and hearing.
Working Environment
The job will be performed entirely in the warehouse where conditions can range from warm to cool. The job will be performed around warehouse machines and equipment with a moderate level of noise. Employee must be able to work in a high-volume, high-demand environment while meeting strenuous customer deadlines. Employee must be able to change priorities or job duties as needed and interact with employees at all levels.
