Job Summary:
Oversees the planning and procurement of materials according to company needs and requirements. Conducts annual negotiations with major suppliers and works with other departments in developing contracts and strategy on Purchasing matters. Provides the necessary instructions, guidance, and assistance, as well as audits the performance of each team member within the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Optimize processes and effectiveness of purchases and timely receipt of materials.
· Participate in the formulation of company’s procurement procedures and objectives and assist in the company’s material planning function on optimization of inventory levels.
· Negotiate purchasing agreements with suppliers.
· Collaborate with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for materials, products, and services.
· Locate, evaluate, and recommend high quality, low-cost sources of supply on an international basis, recommend acceptable substitutions.
· Interface with suppliers of materials and services for all operations
· Keep executive management informed, as requested, regarding market conditions, lead times, and shifts in pricing for materials and services.
· Maintain and/or implement purchasing and recordkeeping systems.
· Promote performance excellence and professionalism within the company purchasing functions.
· Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· Experience in a complex capital equipment environment, semi-conductor experience preferred.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Electrical Engineering.
· Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning, CAD Systems, Statistical Process Control, Quality Management Systems.
· Must be focused, metric driven, and results oriented to aggressive time scales.
· Must be able to formulate strategic and tactical planning; set team goals and objectives to meet business requirements.
· Proven creative problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Global experience in identifying, establishing, and cultivating long-term, strategic supplier relationships. Grounding in six sigma, kaizen and lean manufacturing methodologies and exposure and experience with value engineering is a plus.
· Ability to travel, approximately 10% of the time.
