Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a commercial truck to transport goods and materials to and from specified destinations
- Follow all traffic laws and regulations while driving
- Load and unload cargo using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or other heavy machinery
- Plan and execute efficient routes to ensure timely delivery of goods
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical issues and perform basic maintenance tasks such as checking oil levels, tire pressure, and brakes
- Communicate with dispatchers, customers, and other drivers to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues that may arise
- Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation accurately and in a timely manner
Qualifications:
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements for the type of truck being operated (e.g., Class A, Class B)
- Proven experience as a truck driver or similar role
- Excellent driving record with no recent accidents or violations
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws and regulations
- Ability to operate various types of trucks, including flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, etc.
- Proficiency in manual transmission operation
- Familiarity with using forklifts or other heavy equipment for loading/unloading cargo is a plus
- Basic knowledge of automotive repair is preferred but not required
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading cargo
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently
