Bien Cuit is a James Beard-nominated, Brooklyn-based retail and wholesale bakery focusing on handcrafted bread and pastry. We are dedicated to the merging of classical and contemporary techniques that harness the benefits of fermentation, support the seasonality of local agriculture, and respect the centuries-old tradition of the bakery as the heart of the community. We are a quickly growing company and seek team members who are hands-on and have significant experience in the Food & Beverage industry.
We are looking for a pastry cook comfortable working in high-volume production baking. The right candidate will be comfortable producing pastry from start to finish in accordance with our recipes, ensuring that all products coming out of the oven meet our quality standards. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with a highly talented and hardworking staff.
YOU ARE:
· Familiar with scaling, mixing and cake assembly
· Comfortable baking with convention ovens and have an understanding of baking temperature ranges in cake, quick bread and cookies
· Able to garnish finished desserts
· A team player with the perfect mix of culinary and administrative expertise.
· Able to maintain the highest standards of food quality, presentation, sanitation and safety.
· Highly organized and possess the ability to handle multiple tasks/diverse duties while determining appropriate priorities for their completion.
YOU HAVE:
Education & Experience:
· 2+ years in the pastry production, French pastry experience preferred
· Degree from a post-secondary culinary arts training program is preferred
· Must have completely open availability to suit the 24-hour baking needs of Bien Cuit’s production schedule.
· Be passionate about the food industry with a strong interest in high quality products
· Strong organizational and decision-making skill, along with the ability to recognize what needs to be prioritized
· Ability to work shifts up to 10 hours while standing or walking to perform essential functions
· Strong communication skills to communicate effectively with management and team members'
