JOB SUMMARY
This role is responsible for developing the master production plan to satisfy customer demand while carrying minimum effective inventory. The qualified individual will be responsible for providing the business with a regular production plan consistent with plant capacities and sales forecasts. The sales forecasts, new business opportunities, customer expectations, and internal supply constraints will be used to develop production plans in collaboration with the Business Managers, Operations, Sales, Customer Service and Management will be critical to meeting business goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS
- Creates and maintains detailed master production and material plans for the product lines to use in driving Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and planning production capacity via SAP.
- Serves as a primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, engineering, manufacturing, and procurement.
- Collaborates with these departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best achieve the company’s strategic goals.
- Identifies optimization opportunities via analysis of current processes / procedures including materials requirements planning, scheduling methods, production capabilities, transactional and reporting capabilities and other related topics.
- Champions the use of the ERP system as the primary tool to plan and schedule production.
- Partners with Procurement to periodically compare current and forecasted orders with available inventory of raw materials; uses judgment to anticipate demand for and communicate additional supplies needed.
- Integrates sales orders with master schedule; coordinates availability of resources and materials as needed to meet delivery dates.
- Alerts appropriate staff of master schedule changes or delays
- Participates in periodic forecasting meetings with sales and other related departments; leads additional planning meetings with sales, purchasing, production, and shipping.
- Maintains updated master data elements and assumptions related to supply planning.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business or Supply Chain
- Minimum of two to four (2-4) years hands on work experience using SAP or equivalent MRP systems in a manufacturing environment required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strategic thinker, strong analytical skills, able to synthesize considerable and complex data.
- Be capable of utilizing spreadsheet and ERP-type software in managing the planning process.
- Familiarity with good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures
- Proven organizational, project management and leadership skills.
- Change Agent – skill with enabling change and strong influencing abilities.
- Exceptional interpersonal/written communication skills; can effectively interact with all levels of management.
- Self-motivated, decisive, independent problem solver and able to work in a team environment.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have common computer skills.
- Proven ability to effectively prioritize workload, multi-task, and work independently.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. The employee may be required to bend, twist, reach, push, pull and operate office machinery and motor vehicles. Must be able to lift to (50) pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS
Most of the work will be performed in a climate-controlled environment, but the employee may be exposed to outdoor conditions such as inclement weather and varying degrees of temperature.
WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS
Main hours are Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm.
Schedules will vary depending on business needs, and may entail working nights, weekends and holidays. Must be flexible to work outside of normal departmental operating hours.
