About CinemaKidz:
CinemaKidz is New York City’s leading summer camp for children ages 5 - 15 who want to learn all about film, media, and animation. CinemaKidz offers programs year round, and partners with schools and organizations throughout the 5 boroughs. Programs are hands-on, child-driven, and led by experienced, creative educators who have industry experience. Camps are jam packed, full of a variety of activities and experiences for kids.

We are looking for creative, energetic, FUN and professional Camp Educators and Camp Counselors:
CK Camp Educators are the coaches, mentors, and cheerleaders to young passionate minds looking to explore the world of film, animation, media arts and creativity. They are experienced and knowledgeable about film, animation, and media arts, and have a solid background in education. They are fun, passionate, and as excited to make projects as the kids are! Teachers are flexible, adapt at a moments notice, and LOVE to work with kids.
What the work environment is like:
We are a company that strives to create a creative surrounding both for the children we serve as well as for our team. The CK Leadership team works hard to foster a work environment of learning and professional development. Teachers and staff come from diverse backgrounds, but are brought together with their love of media arts and education. During the summer and throughout the year, the company hosts social team meet-ups. We find the our team becomes a family of create, diverse people who often make lasting friendships long term. CinemaKidz has a core team of dedicated teachers, who the company respects and honors.
Summer Camp Details/Highlights:
- Camp runs 9am - 4pm, Camp Teachers can expect to be on site from 8:45am to around 4:15pm
- Each site offers 4 - 7 different camp themes each week, teachers will often teach a few different themes throughout the summer rotating to a different theme each week. Topics include: filming on site throughout the city to make a movie, working with younger children to focus on acting, building costumes and sets for a spectacular project, stop-motion animation projects, cooking shows, and more
- CinemaKidz is staffed at roughly 1 teacher for every 5 students
- The length of camp varies for each camp location, but runs from June24th - August 30th, we require a minimum dedication of 6 consecutive weeks
Summer Camp Teacher's Responsibilities:
- Lead or co-lead a variety of film, animation, and media arts-related week-long summer camp themes
- Guide, mentor, and foster a supportive creative environment for your group of campers each week, and follow the curricula and mission outlined by CinemaKidz
- Lead or co-lead various camp themes, focusing on SAFETY, FUN, and completion of projects
- Work closely with CinemaKidz Leadership team to ensure open communication and a smooth camp experience for your campers
- Help manage and maintain the resources critical to the success of Camp CinemaKidz (i.e. material stock & maintenance, proper equipment care, daily schedules, etc)
- Help with daily processes of camp: check-in, check-out, maintaining schedules, and camp protocols
- Arrive on time to camp everyday
- Support your fellow teachers as needed
- Manage the storage of all student projects created each week of camp
- Uphold the quality of all programs and projects as per the CinemaKidz mission
- Work to build a positive and fun camp culture
You're the right person if:
- You have a solid understanding of the complete process of film, animation, and media arts
- You love working with children, and have 1+ years experience working with kids (summer camp experience is a plus!)
- You are confident in your ability to oversee the safety and happiness of a group or 5 - 10 campers for the duration of a week
- You are dependable, reliable, and always on time
- You are super creative and passionate
- You love learning new technology and skills
- You are comfortable using technology and/or applications for communication and creative projects
- You can turn a piece of cardboard into an astronaut's helmet! :)
- You can commit to a minimum of 6 weeks of camp
