Medical Assistant/Front Office
The Medical Assistant/Front Office position is full time Monday-Friday, and will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks in order to keep appointments running efficiently.
- Greets and directs patients
- Assists patients through the registration process including paperwork to be completed by patients, scanning insurance cards, entering demographic information and collecting patient financial responsibilities
- Prepares patients for office visits including escorting patient to treatment room, obtaining pertinent patient information and documenting information in the patients’ chart
- Checks out patients which may include scheduling follow appointment, coordinating test appointment, going over surgical paperwork and collecting patient financial responsibilities.
- Verifies insurance
- Schedules any necessary appointments
- Answer incoming calls, assisting caller or directing calls to appropriate staff
- Monitor and review patient schedules and charts for next day appointments
- Assists other staff as needed
- Other duties as assigned
- Interview patients and document basic medical history
- Update and file medical records and insurance reports
- Arrange laboratory and testing services
- Assist during medical examinations
- Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments
- Stock rooms
- Maintain and order supplies
- Obtains approvals for medical testing
- Communicates with physicians on patient inquires or issues
- Responds to patients about inquiries or issues.
- The position collaborates within a team environment and provides back up and supports other department staff when needed
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Additional medical education, certification or experience preferred
- Must maintain confidentiality
- Requires strong computer skills
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Must be able to work effectively with all levels of staff and management
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work as a team and independently
- Handle multiple tasks with conflicting priorities to meet strict deadlines
- Must be detailed oriented, a quick learner and have excellent follow-up skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $37,000.00 - $41,000.00 per year
