Objective:
Director of Procurement oversees procurement operational standards to ensure the consistency, cost-effectiveness, efficiency and adequacy of the procurement process. This position will be responsible for overseeing and facilitating the procurement strategy, supervising teams of subordinate staff, and ensuring all employees and processes meet the company's standards and designations for work quality. Responsible for developing and implementing procurement policies in an organization by leading Procurement Managers and group activities, in Gainesville. This position will own and continuously improve procurement activities to develop the department to be a highly effective, efficient and reliable organization. This position reports to the VP Supply Chain and is responsible for driving process improvements to align with Safran Operational Standards for Procurement. Position works autonomously under minimal supervision.
Authorities:
This position has the power and control to carry out Director responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable regulations including: interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, evaluate performance, appraisal rewarding and disciplining employees.
Duties & Responsibilities:
A. Responsible for the execution for Procurement standards, policies, procedures and performance (Prepares instructions regarding Procurement systems and procedures)
B. Implement best practices in procurement and supplier management to support operational objectives and ensure consistent and high-quality value delivery.
C. Lead rigorous daily Performance reviews to ensure the execution of standards, controls and performance metrics.
D. Develop and execute a long-term strategy to facilitate improvements for Procurement Performances.
E. Develop the inventory forecast for the short and middle term to estimate stock on references
F. Implement action plans to reduce hazards and uncertainties in order to maintain the desired service level within their scope of activities.
G. Review and confirm any supplier risk on sub-tier suppliers
H. Ensure that deadlines are upheld to honor the customer commitment
I. Is accountable for the accuracy of the dynamic data
J. Is accountable for the Supplier On-Time delivery, Part Shortages and Raw Material Inventory performance
K. Conduct Monthly Performance Review meetings with key stakeholders to assess risk, review strategies, and progress on improvement plans.
L. Confers with managers to determine Procurement needs and advises them of product availability based on inventory, supplier availability and/or contractual lead times.
M. Ensure strong follow up with Managers on Procure orders to assure receipt of commodities as ordered and resolution of problems concerning damaged goods, incorrect merchandise, or problems with billing and payment.
N. Maintain strong working relationships with Purchasing Team to assure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met with Strategic suppliers.
O. Ensures all Procurement tasks are performed with Procurement Managers
P. Ensures all Procurement documents are kept up to date and current with all changes
Q. Develops and implements action plans to support strategic plans, setting goals for procurement activities that achieve improved quality, scheduled deliverables and costs.
R. Commitment to Continuous Improvement mindset to constantly evaluate and seek improvements in Supply Chain efficiencies in an ever-changing environment. Identify areas for improvement to continually drive performance.
S. Management Responsibilities: Manage two sites and the respective team in the Procurement department. Provides overall lead on, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
T. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable Country and Federal laws.
U. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
V. Maintains effective safety program to prevent injuries and lost time.
T. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
A. Education & Qualification:
- BA/BS in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or related field of discipline required.
- 10+ years demonstrated industry procurement/supply/commodity management experience with at least 5 years in a managerial role. Industry experience in automotive, aerospace, or other industrial product required.
B. Work Experience - Technical knowledge
- Computer Skills: Familiar with Windows operating system. Intermediate Microsoft Excel demonstration. Ability to read and interpret raw data sets and produce charts and graphs.
- Other Skills: Detail oriented, accuracy, ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing for top executive staff, advanced manufacturing knowledge, an intermediate ERP knowledge required, ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced/high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
- Ability to analyze a complex problem involving numerous internal and external parties, find the root cause and propose solutions
Ability to analyze information provided by other departments and assess the importance of variances and the consequences of them.
