CNA Operations is hiring a Compliance Sr. Consultant responsible for assessing, developing and strengthening operational controls and internal policies to support regulatory, compliance, legal or process design changes. This role partners with the Operations Service Delivery teams to serve as the first line of defense, consulting on effective controls, procedures and processes to protect against operational, process, financial and technology risk. This role also partners with teams across CNA, such as Corporate Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit, Finance, Underwriting Shared Services and Enterprise Risk Management to ensure compliance and effective controls.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
Develops, implements and oversees sound internal controls, protocols, policies and procedures to mitigate risk.
Implements methodology to measure and monitor compliance to internal controls and regulatory requirements and recommends process improvement to ensure compliance.
Consults and conducts audits/control reviews in Operations to ensure adherence to policies and procedures and makes recommendations to strengthen controls.
Provides compliance or technical subject matter expertise in support of business and corporate initiatives.
Provides Operations support for internal/external audits, exams and SOX testing/attestation.
Manages project teams and may be responsible for special projects and presentations.
Produces and prepares compliance-related management reports.
Partners with other departments such as Corporate Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, Enterprise Risk Management, and Finance to support activities including risk assessments, inquiries or DOI requests.
Stays current on federal and state legislation and issues as well as industry and business activity and trends.
Develops and maintains relationships with insurance departments and other regulatory bodies as needed.
Mentors and guides less experienced staff.
Educates and trains employees on effective controls, compliance topics and industry practices.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

A minimum of five years compliance or Operations experience, preferred.

Insurance industry experience, preferred.
