The ESOL Teacher's primary responsibility is to teach, screen, test, monitor, record, and report the progress of English learners (ELs) for all 3 Kindezi Schools (K-8th). ESOL teachers instruct English learners at various levels (elementary and middle) using research-based strategies of language acquisition to maximize opportunities for academic improvement and success. *Itinerant ESOL teachers must travel to amongst the 3 Kindezi schools weekly as needed to provide ESOL services.*

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Instructional Support

Provide ELL push in and/or pull out instruction to students
-
Administer required language proficiency and academic achievement tests for determining placement for students, along with ongoing monitoring of student progress.

Developing language acquisition support plans (ELL plans) for all ELL students and work with classroom teachers to implement plans.

Assist in developing appropriate curriculum to help ELL students acquire the English language.

Employ a variety of instructional techniques and teaching strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students, including whole group (co-teaching)/ small-group or individual learning.
Compliance
-
Review Infinite Campus to identify ELL and ELL- eligible students.

Compile and maintain a profile summary (record of achievement and progress) for each student.

Gather reporting data for reporting requirements and other required reports (to the State, Charter School Board, Department of Education, census, grant applications, annual report, etc.).

Attend IEP, Section 504, or other related meetings necessary for student assessment and/or compliance with federal and/or state law.
Parent Engagement
-
Establish and maintain communication with parents of students in the program.

Engage parents and families in their student’s learning
-
Coordinates parent/teacher conferences to review student's performance, behavior and other issues.
School Supports

Communicates ESOL policies and procedures to teachers, parents, and other professionals.

Participates in committees and meetings in order to discuss and develop action plans and strategies geared to ensure the high academic achievement of English Learners (ELs).

Provides and explains information regarding local, state, and federal regulations relating to evaluation, eligibility, and placement procedures.

Participate in in-service and staff development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned

Conducts EL-related professional learning for school staff.

Models evidence-based practices for EL instruction in all delivery models.

Collaborates with school-based administrators in the development and implementation of instructional plans to meet student needs; monitors and supports the implementation of appropriate curriculum.

- Active Level 4 teacher certification issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, or have reciprocity eligibility from out of state

Early Childhood Education (ECE) P-5 and ESOL Endorsement/ESOL P-12 certification and, Middle Grades English Language Arts 4-8 and ESOL Endorsement/ESOL P-12 certification, preferred

Degree requirements:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the relevant educational field (TESOL, English) required, Masters Preferred.
Work Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year of successful classroom teaching experience as an ESOL teacher is required
Skills:

Fluency in spoken and written Spanish is desired, but not required
