Holloway Funeral Home, PA, located in Salisbury, MD, is seeking a full-time crematory operator to assist with our operations.
Properly care for, receive, and process human remains and ensures that all accompanying documentation is accurate and verified. Operator is responsible for familiarity with company procedures and applicable Federal, State and Municipal regulations. Duties must be performed consistent with company mission and values and adherence to company policies and procedures.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cares for deceased in a respectful manner while performing all the tasks involved in the cremation process
- Receives remains and ensures all documentation is complete and visual identification of the deceased is complete and accurate.
- Completes all required documentation with respect to cremation process and equipment maintenance
- Adheres to all professional, municipal, state, and federal licensing authority regulations applicable to the cremation of human remains
- Adheres to all applicable policies and procedures
- Maintains all Company logs/reports and required state-specific reports
- Maintains all chain of custody paperwork
- Promotes a safe work environment by being aware of and practicing universal precautions and adopting general principles of safe conduct
- Maintains the crematorium, equipment, and adjacent facilities
- May deliver/release cremated remains to appropriate funeral home or proper authority
- Other duties as directed by management
- Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of crematory equipment.
MINIMUM Requirements
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Previous funeral service experience preferred.
Certification/Licenses
- Maryland State Certified Crematory Operator preferred.
- On-the-job training and certification will be provided within first 6-months of employment if applicant does not have an existing license.
Working Conditions
- Weekend availability may be required on occasion.
- Overtime as required.
- Physical ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
- Safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment required in certain situations.
- Indoor facility with seasonal conditions of extreme cold and extreme heat.
- Potential exposure to airborne dust particles and chemical hazards.
- Universal Precautions are utilized for potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

- Familiar with the basic operation of industrial equipment to include basic trouble-shooting skills
- Basic computer and technology skills
- Ability to maintain effective relationships with all affiliates and/or third parties

Position Type: Full time
Position Salary: $20-$25/hour
