Primary Purpose: The Addictions Counselor provides effective counseling services to outpatient clients in accordance with OASAS and Agency rules and regulations. Conducts screenings and assessments of clients. Collaborates with others in treatment planning, service coordination and clinical evaluation. Reviews all clinic documentation and case records according to agency policy and regulatory requirements. Candidate must be a CASAC, CASAC-T, CASAC-P or other QHP.
Responsibilities:
1. Provides clinical counseling services to clients in recovery utilizing addiction treatment knowledge, understanding of addiction, and application of addiction counselor knowledge to practical treatment of clients.
2. Uses CASAC education to provide appropriate treatment methods.
3. Conducts screenings, assessments. Motivates clients to do their best.
4. Writes effective treatment plans.
5. Provides individual and group counseling as scheduled. Maintains a caseload of up to 35 clients.
6. Maintains accurate and timely documentation in case records according to agency policy and regulatory requirements.
License Requirements: Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC, CASAC-T, CASAC-P, or other QHP)
Education Requirements: Associate Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or other related field or Bachelor's Degree in Human Services field with the intent to obtain CASAC-P also accepted in lieu of license.
Experience Requirements: A minimum of three (3) years experience as a counselor in a preferably in an OASAS licensed outpatient chemical dependency treatment program.
Position is full-time, Monday through Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
