The Olympic Ambulance Family Commitment:
At Olympic Ambulance we strive to provide vehicles that are known in the industry for excellence. Our Fleet Services Department is a full-service facility staffed with mechanics who are dedicated to ensuring our vehicles are well maintained and in exceptional working order, consistent with the manufactuer's specifications. If at any point a vehicle does not meet standards, it is placed out-of-service for repair, upgrade, or replacement.
Fleet services are held to the highest standards in that they are required to be ASE mechanics and pass all Ambulance Technician Exams. Mechanics must keep both certifications in good standing for continued employment. We have implemented a rotatin on-call schedule for mechanics which guarantees assistance at all branch locations 24/7. The on-call mechanic collaborates with station personnel regarding vehicles or equipment to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
Our Fleet Services Department takes a proactive approach to service and repairs by adhering to a strict and comprehensive mainteance program for all vehicles and equipment. Maintenance is performed at service intervals that meet or exceed the manufacturer's recommendations regarding service and replacement schedulese. Policies and procedures are in place to accomodate high priority repairs.
Our vehicle maintenance schedule ensures that each ambulance receives routine maintenance every 5,000 miles and is thoroughly inspected from bumper to bumper every 15,000 miles. Each service includes a thorough 120-point inspection of the vehicle's emergency systems, engine, electrical wiring, and tires. Tranmission, differential, and coolant services are performed every 30,000 miles.
While most major repairs and maintenance on our vehicles and vehicle-related equipment are performed in house in our maintenance facility, our technicians are equipped to travel via one of our mobile maintenance units when an immediate need arises at one of our branch locations. Our ability to perform mobile repairs and basic mainenance on-site, greatly reduces downtime for vehicles in our fleet. In the event a major repair is required in a remote location, more than one mobile mechanice unit may be dispatched.
Olympic Ambulance maintains a parts inventory for common repairs to eliminate excessive downtime and enable mechanics to respond immediately in emergent situations. Our technicians work directly with maintenance personnel at each station to educate them on fluid requirements, fluid level checks, and bulb replacement at the base to eliminate out-of-service time. To ensure each branch location is operating at full capacity, Corporate Fleet Services maintains replacement ambulances available for deployment at a moment's notice. Each branch retains sufficient supplies to keep replacement vehicles fully stocked, which allows for a smooth transition into vehicle rotations. We utilize a five-year limited mile replacement schedule on ambulances; however, a vehicle will be replaced to undergo a complete rebuild process earlier if proven to be unreliable. If the vehicle has proven to be reliable, it will be considered for a complete vehicle rebuild or module remount in our rebuild facility.
From the introduction of the vehicle into service until it's retirement, Olympic Ambulance fleet services keeps and maintains detailed service records for each vehicle. The records are transferred with the vehicle when it is replaced.
Since 2006, Olympic Ambulance has donated ambulances for "Food for the Poor", an international relief and development organization in the U.S. that helps those less fortunate in 17 Latin American and Caribbean countries. In addition to ambulances, Olympic Ambulance contributes a variety of other medical equipment and supplies in an effort to improve the quality of EMS services available in underprivileged areas of the world.
Our competetive edge - Our team takes pride in the quality of our work, building unmatched continuity and understanding with every ambulance across the fleet. This intimate relationship between the technicians and their vehicles creates an unmatched level of ownership that we believe separates us from the others.
