We are currently seeking a dedicated and meticulous individual to join our team as a Medical Assistant/Scribe in our outpatient Neurosurgery clinic. As a Medical Assistant/Scribe you will be instrumental in supporting our healthcare professionals by accurately documenting patient encounters and ensuring the seamless flow of medical information within our specialized practice.
Responsibilities:
- Precisely record patient encounters, encompassing comprehensive medical histories, presenting symptoms, and devised treatment plans specific to neurosurgical care
- Aid healthcare professionals with essential medical administrative tasks tailored to the nuances of outpatient neurosurgery
- Facilitate patient service activities, including appointment scheduling and proficient management of neurosurgical medical records
- Adhere to coding and documentation guidelines pertinent to neurosurgery practices
- Demonstrate readiness to learn about insurance protocols and prior authorizations, collaborating with the team to streamline administrative processes
- Updating patient history, physical exam and other pertinent health information in the patient record
- Preparing and sending all documentation to physician for review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and facility-specific procedures
- Regular and reliable attendance at assigned facility required
Education/Experience: Ability to demonstrate knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy strongly preferred. Medical scribe experience 1 year preferred. Knowledge of prior authorization insurance guidelines preferred.
Technical/Computer Skills: Skilled in operating various medical record software and hardware, word-processing, and database software programs; minimum of 60 WPM preferred. Familiarity with eClinicalWorks preferred.

- Ability to observe and to draft a narrative account of events accurately and cogently, in grammatically-correct
- Ability to spell proofread and edit written
- Keyboard proficiency (approximately 60 words/minute).
- Ability to work in a dynamic, environment that routinely involves exposure to sensitive personal medical documents
- Ability to communicate and interact professionally with coworkers and patients
- Understanding of and commitment to appropriate protection of confidential patient records

- Ability to read, write, comprehend through listening, and speak fluent English. Fluency in Spanish preferred.
