BHRAGS Alliance is the sister company of BHRAGS Home Care, a not-for profit 501© (3) organization established in 1980. BHRAGS operates shelters for the homeless migrant population across NYC, and strives to promote safety justice, health, and independence for vulnerable individuals and families in need of shelter services.
Vice President of Operations
POSITION OVERVIEW:
- Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the organization's mission and objectives.
- Collaborate with the executive team to set organizational priorities and goals.
- Oversee the daily operations of multiple shelters, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
- Develop and enforce operational policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Provide leadership and support to program directors, helping them to manage their respective shelters effectively.
- Monitor and evaluate program performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
- Develop and manage budgets for shelter operations, ensuring financial efficiency and sustainability.
- Monitor financial performance and implement cost-control measures as needed.
- Establish and maintain quality assurance processes to ensure high standards of service delivery.
- Conduct regular audits and evaluations to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Lead, mentor, and support program directors and other key staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
- Implement training and development programs to enhance staff skills and competencies.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and funders.
- Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and other public forums.
- Develop and implement crisis management plans to address emergencies and ensure the safety and well-being of residents and staff.
- Lead the response to critical incidents and provide guidance to program directors during crises.
- Prepare and present regular reports on shelter operations, performance metrics, and strategic initiatives to the executive team and board of directors.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all operational activities and incidents.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in shelter services and operations.
- Lead initiatives to enhance service delivery, operational efficiency, and client outcomes.
- Report all incidents that may subject BHRAGS ALLIANCE to liability to the CEO or Shelter governing body.
- Facilitate interdepartmental/multi-site communication and conduct regular directors/departmental meetings.
- Establish weekly and monthly performance goals in accordance with contract.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of statistical information for BHRAGS ALLIANCE to regulatory agencies (e.g. DHS) as required.
- Aptitude to work with a strong team of professionals in a culturally diverse environment.
- Strong ability to multitask, work and function well under pressure.
- Other task assigned by the COO.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a senior operational management role, preferably within the nonprofit sector or social services.
- Proven track record of overseeing multiple programs or sites and managing diverse teams.
- Valid New York State LMSW, LCSW, or LMHC is preferred.
- At least five (5+) years of experience with homeless or special needs population (mental illness, substance abuse, HIV, etc...) preferred.
- At least five (5+) years’ experience in a managerial position.
- Some experience working with individuals and/or families experiencing homelessness.
- Experience in employee training and development.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
