The High School Science Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering a dynamic and engaging science curriculum to students that instills a love for science and supports students’ understanding of real world application. This role involves instructing students in various scientific disciplines, fostering scientific inquiry, and cultivating critical thinking skills through hands-on experiments and exploration in order to set students up for success beyond high school. The successful candidate fosters a positive and engaging learning environment that promotes student understanding and proficiency in science and the scientific method. The High School Science Teacherwill utilize assessment data to determine progress against instructional objectives and will utilize instructional strategies and differentiated instruction to support all students to achieve their goals. In this position, the High School Science Teacher will also work collaboratively with staff members, administrators, families, and other stakeholders to support students to achieve. The High School Science Teacher will serve as a knowledgeable expert in the subject matter, employing and implementing a comprehensive science curriculum. The successful candidate will also possess effective communication skills, adaptability, and a zest for helping students succeed in science while fostering a positive attitude toward scientific inquiry.

Curriculum Planning & Instructional Delivery
- Develop, organize, and implement an engaging and standards-aligned science curriculum that includes covering disciplines such as biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science.
- Deliver effective and engaging science lessons using a variety of teaching methods, including hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and multimedia resources.
- Foster a curiosity for science and critical thinking skills among students.
- Organize and conduct laboratory experiments, ensuring a safe and structured environment for students to explore scientific concepts firsthand.
- Instruct students on proper laboratory techniques and safety procedures.
- Create lesson plans that incorporate a variety of instructional strategies to address different learning styles.
- Deliver clear and engaging lessons using a variety of teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, group activities, and hands-on experiences.
- Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs and abilities within the classroom.
Assessment and Evaluation
- Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress in science.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments, projects, and assessments.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain a positive, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Implement effective classroom management techniques to ensure a focused and respectful learning atmosphere.
Individualized Support
- Provide additional support to students who may require extra assistance in understanding scientific concepts.
- Use data to conduct one-on-one or small group sessions to address specific learning needs.
- Offer extra help sessions, tutoring, or other resources to assist students in their learning.
Parent and Guardian Communication:
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to share information about student progress, upcoming events, and ways they can support their child's learning.
- Partner with parents or guardians to develop strategies tailored to the needs of each student.
Professional Development & Collaboration
- Stay informed about current developments in science education, instructional strategies, and advancements in scientific fields.
- Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
- Collaborate with other teachers and educators within the school to align curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to a cohesive educational program.
Extracurricular Involvement
- Participate in or oversee math-related extracurricular activities, such as math clubs, competitions, or special projects.
Technology Integration
- Incorporate educational technology tools and resources into instruction to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant information.
Professionalism
- Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with students, colleagues, and parents, adhering to ethical standards and school policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Knowledge of general learning and child development concepts, theories and fundamentals.
- Strong commitment to, belief in, and alignment with mission and vision of the school.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education.
- Licensed to teach in the state of WI.
- Prior experience as a Teacher (highly recommended).
- Capacity to supervise group work.
- Outstanding planning, conflict resolution techniques, problem-solving skills.
- Assess student projects with their skill level and style in mind.

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of mobility through a large campus, and at times prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the workday.
Other Requirements
- The job may require occasional evening or weekend hours for family engagement events and meetings.

Pay: $57,432.00 - $63,457.00 per year
