The director of operations, baseball is responsible for all program operations, managing travel for players and coaches/administrators/students, assists the Student Athlete Development staff in managing the student-athlete baseball life skills and players’ development, and coordinating special events for the program. They will also manage recruiting records in accordance with NCAA regulations for recruiting of student-athletes, manage booster functions for donors (including dinner meetings, fund raising events, etc.), and coordinate speaking engagements for head coach. The incumbent will serve as a representative of the University, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the Rice community and with the public.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- One year of experience in a college baseball program
- Must be able to correspond professionally both in writing and orally
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as team schedule requires
- Frequent travel during season
- Must be familiar with MS Office Suite

Essential Functions
- Manages in season travel schedule for players and a travel party of coaches, administrators, managers, trainers, and students

- Manages all community relations programs
- Manages staff assistants and student managers to ensure adequate preparation of all functions for practice times and scheduled games
- Coordinates the purchase of airline tickets, hotel rooms, local transportation, and meals for the travel party
- Ensures team travel is planned in a manner that complies with Rice fiscal policy, department missed class policy, and NCAA travel policy
- Coordinates practice times with visiting teams
- Assists with on-campus recruiting events
- Coordinates (with development) functions for donors, including dinner meetings, fund raising events, etc
- Performs all other duties as assigned
