Position Summary
The PCA - Personal Care Assistant is responsible for providing routine daily personal care and light housekeeping for assigned clients (the elderly and disabled 18 years of age or older) in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Y.C.H.H.C. (Your Choice Home Health Care) standards. The Personal Care Assistant will also administer injections, medications, wound care, physical, occupational and speech therapy and any other service provided by a nurse, once they are trained and signed off by a Provider of Health or by one of our on staff Registered Nurses.
Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- One (1) Personal Care Assistant experience preferred, but will train the right candidate..
Specific Job Requirements
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm as well as willingness to handle difficult clients
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of Y.C.H.H.C.
- Must perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: direct client care, client rights, and safety and sanitation
- Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
- Must understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
- Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Your Choice Home Health Care's Code of Conduct and completes mandatory pre-employment training.
Essential Functions
- Must be able to lift, turn, move, position, and transport patients
- Must be able to assist clients with baths, showers, personal grooming, feeding, toileting and transfers
- Must be able to accurately document ADL's
- Must exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
- Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
- Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
- Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Must have reliable transportation and a driver's license
