Production Manager - 2nd Shift
Ready Seafood Company is a rapidly growing wholesale lobster business located up and down the coast of Maine with headquarters based in Saco, ME. This role is based out of our live lobster facility in York.

Position Summary
The 2nd Shift Production Manager, which will report to the Operations Manager, will be responsible for oversight of the Ready Seafood grading and packing teams for their shift to ensure product is processed efficiently and in compliance with all HACCP/SQF requirements related to tank and facility conditions. All production and inventory reports will be reviewed, at a minimum, on a daily basis while effectively communicating all actions to the Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to, the following):
- Optimize daily production output with regard to receiving, sorting, high-grading, packing, loading, and shipping work areas to ensure all individual/organizational set KPIs and performance benchmarks are achieved.
- Ensure decision making and communication are focused with Ready Seafood’s vision, strategic objectives, and the organization’s overall core values.
- Direct the activities of the production team to facilitate maximum operational efficiencies and safeguard proper service levels and quality standards are met.
- Identify facility operational cost controls/efficiency gaps; reports and works with Operations Manager to implement strategic changes to standing Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage all incoming and outgoing transactions within Seasoft, while also overseeing and monitoring any changes within the system made by subordinates.
- Enforce compliance with Ready Seafood HACCP program, SQF program, FTZ, TSA, DMR regulations, and other regulatory requirements with consultation from facility Quality Assurance Manager.
- Identify, record, and inform Quality Assurance/Operations Manager of any food safety or quality issues.
- Initiate action plan to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to food safety with consultation from facility Quality Assurance Manager.
- Manage facility’s packaging levels to sufficiently ensure production volumes are optimized; bring all major purchases for production materials to the Operations manager for review.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Please note that this position requires the ability to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends), and availability via phone as needed since Ready Seafood operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Other Supervisory & Administrative Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to, the following):
- Evaluate labor staffing, standards, and efficiency of entire facility; oversee daily schedules of production team employees and manage total hours, with the goal of reducing dependency on overtime and supporting operational demands and business objectives.
- Conduct timely/daily production meetings to assure communication at all managed levels for each shift. Inform management on KPI performance targets on a routine basis and provide action plans for areas as warranted.
- Draft, document, and facilitate all repairs or maintenance for production tools and equipment through Certdox with consultation from Facility Maintenance Manager.
- Communicate, draft, and outline all safety/OSHA incident reports for production team employees in accordance with company policy to the Operations Manager within 24 hours.
- Recommend employees for hire and/or termination within company guidelines with consultation from the Operations Manager and Human Resources.
- Develop and execute training for all new production team hires.
- Draft/provide constructive and timely performance evaluations for all managed personnel in accordance with our SMART goals initiative and the organizations overall Core Values.
- Communicate, draft, and outline all formal disciplinary steps for production team employees in accordance with company policy with consultation from Operations Manager. Coach, counsel, and monitor employees following any disciplinary action. Report all associated paperwork relating to the foregoing to Operations Manager within 24 hours.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements
- Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment.
- Must be able to team lift up to 100lbs
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the plant.
