The School of Education is pleased to invite applications for a tenure-track or tenured Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Education in the Department of Specialized Programs in Education (SPE) at Hofstra University. The SPE Department welcomes applications in the field of Health and Physical Education Teacher Preparation, with a focus on diversity, equity, and justice, and with strong preference for candidates who can teach in additional programs across the School, particularly for high-needs areas. Candidates in advanced career stages will be expected to bring leadership to the School in teacher and/or leader preparation and to serve in administrative roles.
The faculty of the Hofstra University School of Education are dedicated to the preparation of reflective and knowledgeable professionals who use scholarship to inform their practice. Collectively, we strive toward a more just, open, and democratic society as we collaborate with and learn from children, adolescents, and adults in diverse social and cultural settings. Our two departments (Specialized Programs in Education; and Teaching, Learning, and Technology Programs) offer over 80 undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and advanced-certificate programs, including numerous New York State-approved pathways to certification of school professionals. The position would be joining the School at an exciting time of renewal and growth.
The responsibilities of the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Education (specialization in Health and Physical Education) will include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Health and Physical Education and potentially in other professional-preparation and degree programs across the School of Education
- Engaging in or leading research, scholarship, and other scholarly and professional endeavors that advance the mission and values of the School of Education
- Working collaboratively to administer, assess, and strengthen various degree and credential programs and partnerships locally and beyond
- Supporting efforts to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for faculty, staff, students, and community members
