ASPE-South is currently seeking a General Superintendent for projects across the South East.
Summary of Responsibilities
The General Superintendent, in addition to running projects, is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all construction site activities according to project documents. Their duties include assisting with pre-construction tasks, coordinating ASPE crews and subcontractors, performing quality control, enforcing safety, and providing on-site direction to other ASPE superintendents. General Superintendent completes organizational and project management tasks and responsibilities from the field while maintaining a constant line of communication with the ASPE Project Manager to effectively lead the ASPE field team and ensure they have all the resources they need.
High-Level Position Responsibilities and Duties
- This position reports to the Executive Vice President & Project Management and supervises Superintendents, Foremen, and Subcontractors.
- Works closely with the Project Managers to schedule and manage resources and budget.
- Provide solutions and strategies to keep the project on or ahead of schedule and recover from potential delays.
- Ensures compliance with ASIC, PCI, SJI, SDI & OSHA.
- Assesses the project status, establishes priorities, and allocates tasks daily.
- Ensures accurate time and quantities are reported to the project’s Project Management team.
- Continuously monitors production quantities and budgets.
- Manages the hiring, training, attendance, and performance of the crew.
- Ensures employee safety and positive morale by consistently applying all HR, safety, and environmental policies.
- Provides leadership for the project, ensuring construction specifications are being met.
- Effectively investigates and resolves any work or project disputes as they may arise.
- Maintains positive relationships and communications with customers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Identifies and solves constructability issues as they arise.
- Maximizes crew efficiency through effective application of logic and project scheduling.
- Works with Project Controls to help build schedules, provide logical activity sequencing and make schedule changes.
Experience:
10 -15 years of experience on construction projects in a superintendent role. Demonstrate proficiency and understanding of the management of site logistics and contract operations on Steel & Pre-Cast Projects. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Bluebeam, 3D Lift Planner & Modeling Software. Must be construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction. Must have experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control. Strong technical and communication skills are critical.
