As a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Behavioral Health, you will be responsible for providing compassionate and holistic care to individuals with mental health and behavioral disorders. You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within a psychiatric or behavioral health setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients with mental health and behavioral disorders, including psychiatric history, current symptoms, and risk factors.
- Develop individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and treatment teams, focusing on recovery-oriented goals and holistic wellness.
- Administer psychotropic medications and other treatments as prescribed by psychiatrists or healthcare providers, monitoring for therapeutic effectiveness and potential side effects.
- Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including psychoeducation, counseling, and behavioral interventions, to promote positive coping skills and symptom management.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques in response to psychiatric emergencies or behavioral crises, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients and staff.
- Facilitate therapeutic groups and activities to promote socialization, skill-building, and emotional support among patients.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other mental health professionals to coordinate comprehensive treatment plans and ensure continuity of care.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to legal and ethical standards of practice.
- Advocate for patients' rights and autonomy while maintaining a supportive and therapeutic environment.
Qualifications
- RN License
- Proficiency in basic life support and patient assessment
- Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems
- Ability to develop and implement care plans
- Strong crisis intervention skills
- Knowledge of physiology and patient care best practices
- Experience in airway management and health coaching
- Ability to work with diverse patient populations
