Overview
DLH Corp seeks Chemists to work in the Division of Laboratory Sciences at the National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH), part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) located in Atlanta, Georgia. The CDC, a key operational arm of the Department of Health and Human Services, is dedicated to safeguarding America from health, safety, and security threats, both domestic and international. Whether the origins of diseases are local or global, chronic or acute, preventable or curable, accidental or deliberate, CDC is at the forefront of disease control, supporting communities and individuals in their efforts to combat health challenges.
The Division of Laboratory Sciences (DLS), which is located on CDC's Chamblee campus, provides crucial laboratory support to enhance the detection, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of environmental, tobacco-related, nutritional, newborn, chronic, and infectious diseases.
Responsibilities
- Selected candidates will conduct laboratory analyses to measure environmental or organic chemicals, chemical or radiologic threats, metals, toxins, nutrients, or protein, lipid, and other types of biomarkers in biological samples collected from various studies using various detection methods involving advanced analytical instrumentation such as clinical chemistry analyzers and LC- MS/MS.
- Develop, implement, and troubleshoot comprehensive quantitative analysis methods
- Apply knowledge and skills in biological sample handling/processing, instrument operation, maintenance, and data analysis
- Apply analytical methods to studies supported by the DLS while maintaining compliance of Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) standards, policies and regulations
- Conduct data analysis, evaluation, and interpretation using complex software
- Apply quality assurance and control procedures for reporting and sharing study results
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with team members
- Participate in preparation of oral and written presentations of
- Assist in reviewing, updating, and maintaining standardization protocols
Qualifications
- BS degree in chemistry, physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering with a minimum of 30 semester hours coursework in chemistry plus at least four years of experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory.
- MS degree in chemistry, physical sciences, life sciences, or engineering with at least two years in an analytical chemistry laboratory.
- Experience in chemical and analytical laboratory work
- Knowledge of analytic chemistry techniques such as mass spectrometry, gas chromatography, solid phase microextraction, handling/processing of biologic samples, statistical analysis, data review and management.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Have a detailed-oriented approach to all work
- Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Clearance.
