Job Title: Food and Beverage Supervisor

Job Summary
Responsible for club’s dining services. Directly supervises the dining room, bars, patio, racquet clubhouse and other areas when applicable. Requires all knowledge of opening and closing procedures to comply with Club standards.
Job Essentials
- Responsible for proper charge procedures, guest check analysis, tip reports.
- Extensive menu comprehension to assist with food service as needed.
- Assists in training and supervision of front of house food and beverage staff.
- Helps plan schedules according to business demands.
- Implements effective training for new staff and professional development activities for experienced staff assigned by Food and Beverage Manager.
- Creates and assigns staff to sections on the floor plans for each meal period.
- Prints Daily Specials and distributes accordingly to proper areas.
- Procures beer, wine, liquor from appropriate locations to ensure all beverage areas are properly stocked to written par levels assigned by Clubhouse Manager.
- Checks and monitors that all areas of food and beverage are properly stocked to written par levels assigned by Clubhouse Manager.
- Assigns opening and closing side work for all front of house staff. This includes bussers and runners.
- Assists in monitoring employee timecards to minimize overtime and keep labor costs within budget.
- Assures that all applicable club policies and procedures are followed.
- Maintains records of liquors, beers, and wine to ensure bar stock is always maintained.
- Ensures all legal requirements are consistently followed, including state or local laws for food safety and the sale/consumption of alcoholic beverages.
- Ensure all preventive maintenance and other standards are consistently met.
- Assists in ensuring that all new employees receive the appropriate safety instructions and training; establishes and enforces all safety policies and procedures and ensures that appropriate proof of training is documented to the employees’ personnel files.
- Consults daily with the Food and Beverage Manager, Clubhouse Manager, to help assure the highest level of member satisfaction at minimum cost.
- Greets guests and oversees actual service on a routine basis.
- Conducts pre-shift meetings when applicable.
- Addresses member and guest complaints and reports to Food and Beverage Manager.
- Monitors appearance, upkeep and cleanliness of all food and beverage equipment and facilities.
- Monitors employee dress codes according to policies and procedures.
- Monitors physical inventory verification and provides updated information.
- Ensures that an accurate reservation system is in place.
- Serves as supervisor-on-duty on a regular basis.
- Monitors sanitation and cleaning schedules.
- Assists in service and tableside cookery, as needed.
- Attending scheduled staff meetings.
- May serve as the club’s opening and closing supervisor on duty.
- Performs duties of bussers, food runners, hosts, servers, and bartenders as needed.
- Assists in tableside wine service and its training.
- Assists in captaining banqueted events put forth by the Catering and Events Special
- Has the ability to set up audio visuals and troubleshoot.
- Cleans and locks the Clubhouse according to prescribed closing procedures.
- Completes other appropriate assignments from the Food and Beverage Manager or Clubhouse Manager.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
- Continually practices beverage and revenue control procedures.
- Oversees the opening and closing duties of all serving staff when manager or supervisor is not present.
- Skilled at slowing and refusing alcoholic beverage service when necessary.
- Carefully follows all laws and club policies and procedures regarding alcoholic beverage service and informs manager if continued service to a member or guest is in question.
- Complies with and monitors safety and sanitation requirements.
- Oversees front of house staff timing of meals.
- Ensures proper table maintenance occurs.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Proficient wine, spirits, and bar operation knowledge
- Moderate knowledge of club’s POS system or comparable POS system preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Polished, professional appearance and presentation.
- Train and maintain staff members to club standards.
- Ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
- Assures that all state and local laws and club policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
- Continuously reports to Food and Beverage Management team regarding suggestions from members.
- Effective communication at all department levels and throughout the club.
- Thanks members and guests; invites them to return.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
- Performs other appropriate duties assigned by Food and Beverage Manager.
Experience and Background
- Two years minimum in a Food and Beverage Supervisory role preferred.
- One year minimum in a Fine Dining Supervisor role preferred.
- One year minimum in a Bar Supervisor role preferred
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
- Push, pull, carry, or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Continuous repetitive motions.
- Work in a hot, humid, and noisy environment.
Licenses and Special Requirements
- TIPS/BASSET Certification
- Food safety certification.
- At least 21 years of age to prepare and serve alcoholic beverages.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
