Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Speech Language Pathologist to join our team. Given general direction, you will be responsible for assessing and treating clients with communication disorders. Additionally, you will be expected to engage in a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach with particular attention given to parental involvement. Candidate must NOT be an employee of the Department of Education.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct client assessments to determine candidacy for augmentative/alternative communication means.
- Up-to-date with current augmentative communication assessment means.
- Adept at implementing appropriate utilization of AAC devices.
- Versed in providing in-person training on the utilization of AAC devices.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on client needs.
- Provide direct intervention to improve speech and language skills.
- Effectively collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate client care.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Educate clients and their families on techniques to enhance communication skills.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records.
Skills:
- Excellent client assessment skills
- Strong working knowledge of Augmentative communication assessment and implementation. This should include, but is not limited to: LAMP, Proloquo2Go, PECS, etc.
Experience:
- Master's Degree in Speech and Language Pathology.
- Three or more years of prior Speech Therapy experience.
Credentialing:
- Must possess NYS License in Speech and Language Pathology
- Must possess ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC).
- Must possess NYSED TSHH/TSSLD.
- If bilingually certified, must possess a current Bilingual Extension (BE).
