Director - Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach Services
Position Summary:
The Director serves as the primary strategic architect of a comprehensive, results-oriented, organization-wide development and marketing program to advance the mission and goals of Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach Services (OLMCOS). This includes annual fundraising, grants, major donor cultivation, planned giving, corporate and business philanthropy, campaigns, special events, media relations, brand management and community presence. The Director of Advancement leads the teams responsible for raising awareness about the issues of poverty, systemic barriers to self-sufficiency and the vital role that OLMCOS plays in serving disempowered populations. The Director serves on the Leadership Team and works closely with The Executive Director and the Board of Directors in all development and marketing endeavors, and provides expertise to the Development Committee of the Board.
Job Responsibilities:
Revenue Generation
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, Board of Directors and Development Committee to create and coordinate baseline annual fundraising targets with organizational strategic objectives and budget.
- Promote and guide the adoption of best practices and innovative approaches to individual major giving, corporate and foundation grants, planned giving initiatives, annual appeals, in-kind donations and events
- Establish and monitor key metrics to make forecasts and evaluate ongoing performance, ensuring the department will meet and exceed annual fundraising goals
- Oversee preparation and submission of grant applications. Collaborate with program leads on strategies.
- Ensure adequate donor and grant tracking, reporting and prospect research
- Interface with Director of Finance & Administration on financial reconciliations and to maintain accurate reports.
- Clearly articulate and promote a strong case for support that grows the donor base and giving levels
- Develop and manage department budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and return on investment
- Oversee a best-in-class moves management and donor stewardship program designed to strengthen relationships with high-value and high-net-worth donors
- Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures for gift processing and donor acknowledgement, database management, and financial reporting
Marketing
- Oversee the design, implementation and management of OLMCOS’ brand recognition, visibility in community and nonprofit sector, media and marketing campaigns for the purpose of revenue and reputation development
- Oversee the design and production of OLMCOS’ newsletter, website, annual report and all other external communications
- Develop organization-wide marketing collateral in collaboration with program and volunteer management team members.
Team Management
- Foster an understanding of philanthropy and marketing across the organization
- Build, motivate, and lead an advancement team, aligning team goals with organizational strategy
- Establish annual goals, provide performance reviews and recognition, and support ongoing professional development opportunities
- As a member of the Leadership Team, help promote team culture and provide insights into strategic vision of the organization.
- Coordinate team activities with other program leads fostering a “one team” culture.
Community Leadership
- Build relationships with community stakeholders to advance the mission and advancement goals
- Identify, cultivate and retain strong relationships with current and new major donors and individual contributors, foundations and other grantors, business and corporate funders, media and community organizations.
- Strategize on and implement efforts to secure new and untapped financial, reputational and social resources for the fulfillment of OLMCOS mission.
- Represent OLMCOS at events and activities and foster pride and excitement in the organization’s efforts∙
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach Services, treating all people with dignity and respect.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive experience in advancement, development or marketing, with demonstrated success in securing 5- and 6-figure major and annual gifts from all constituencies, including individuals, corporations, and foundations
- Demonstrated ability to set and monitor the strategic direction of a complex advancement program and to ensure its alignment with organizational goals
- Experience establishing strong relationships with executive leaders and volunteer Boards/committees and of leveraging them effectively
- Working knowledge of development and marketing best practices, emerging trends, tools and technologies to support a variety of initiatives
- Ability to effectively utilize database systems within a data-driven and evidence-based organization; experience with Charity Proud software is preferred
- Evidence of excellent leadership skills and knowledge of how to motivate and mentor a team to increase performance levels
- Self-starter and goal driven, highly organized multitasker and exhibits “follow through” on tasks and goals. ∙

- Able to work efficiently in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
Work is conducted in a fast-paced professional office environment. Position requires computer usage for extended periods. Must be able to lift 10-15 pounds.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
