Summary: Woodmen Hills Metro District is a quasi-municipal corporation and political subdivision of the State of Colorado. We are located east of Colorado Springs, in Falcon, Colorado. This is a skilled entry-level technical work position responsible for performing maintenance and repair for District facilities, trails, open space, and grounds.
Duties and responsibilities

Leadership & Program Management
- Assists with the maintenance operations of the facilities, parks, trails, and open space assets.
- Completes tasks related to facilities and grounds.
- Assists with program needs such as room set up, stripping fields, outdoor equipment management, special event set up, and project management.
- Assure cleanliness of recreation facilities, grounds, parks, trails, and open space. This includes following daily assignments and working hands-on to assure cleanliness expectations are being met.
- Monitor waste receptacles, animal waste bags, and park restroom needs.
- Ensures continuous district operations by assisting the Maintenance Operations Team in maintaining a preventative maintenance plan.
- Manage facility work order requests. Making sure work orders are completed on time.
- Complete your timecard and accurately account for time worked.Be on time and ready to work when scheduled.
Fiscal & Resource Management
- Ensure that business functions employ best management practices and are consistent with department and District standards.
- Provide oversight and coordinated use of operations equipment including purchasing, organization, inventory, security, and maintenance.
- Coordinate contracted services and supplies such as cleaning products, inspections, and vendors
Risk Management
- Responsible for properly storing chemicals, ensuring correct labeling of chemicals, and maintaining MSDS records.
- Recommend policies and procedures that protect the health and safety of our guests.
- Ensure that all facilities, grounds, and playgrounds comply with state health code standards and are prepared for inspections.
- Maintain current records for first aid safety equipment.
- Regulate the safe operation of playgrounds.
- Follow emergency policies and procedures for parks, trails, and open space assets.
- Attend required safety meetings and department meetings.
Administrative Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission, vision, and core values of Parks and Recreation and the Woodmen Hills Metro District.
- Attend professional development conferences, workshops, and seminars.
- Participate proactively in departmental, and District events.
- Participate in the development of ideas and suggestions for program, facility, and service improvements.

- Prior facility maintenance experience is required. This includes but is not limited to drywall repair, painting, basic plumbing repairs, equipment repair, and preventative maintenance.
- This position requires facility custodial duties, previous custodial experience is preferred.
- Attention to detail, this position requires you to do daily checks at a variety of locations and create work orders based on these checks.
- Required to have a current non-expired driver’s license. This position is required to drive a district vehicle.
Physical Requirements:
- Required to sit, stand, climb, jump, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Work will be performed inside and outside. Most of the workday will be spent inside.
- Will be required to work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, snow, and rain.
Required Qualifications:
- Education and Experience
- High School graduate or GED and 1-2 years of demonstrated experience in facility maintenance; or completion of some High School education and 3 years of demonstrated experience in facility maintenance or related field.
- Certification Requirements
- Red Cross Community 1st Aid/CPR/AED. Ability to obtain within the first 90 days of employment.
- Certified Pool Operator must be obtained within the first year of hire.
- Work Schedule
- Typical work schedule will be Sunday to Thursday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (Days Off Friday & Saturday)
- This position will require working some weekends, evenings, and early morning hours to support staff and programming.
Background Check
- Applicants over 18 years of age, must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
Preferred Qualification
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Certified Facility Manager, IFMA or FMP.
- Certified Pool Operator, AFO or CPO.
Compensation
- Full Pay Range, $17.00 - $28.00 (hourly).
- Hiring Range, $17.00 - $21.00 (hourly), based on qualifications, knowledge, and experience.
- Annual performance-based raises will be issued at the District’s and Department’s discretion.
Additional Information
- This position is classified as essential.
- As an essential employee it is required to report to work during weather-related issues and other emergencies. This includes clearing snow when the district is closed, during holiday hours, and off schedule times.
