A Skilled Nursing home of 230 beds in the New York area are looking an In-service Director.
OVERVIEW:
Responsible for developing, planning, coordinating, and providing in-service trainings for facility, regional, and/or corporate staff in accordance with company policy or initiatives, current state and federal regulations, and industry standards of practice.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and deliver new hire orientation and other education programs, trainings, and sessions.
- Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure new-hire orientation.
- Develop the annual education calendar for the facilities as well as the regional and corporate teams.
- Develop a tracking system to ensure staff complete required annual education in-services, trainings, and/or CEU’s.
- Coordinate with vendors, educational institutions, etc. to provide educational needs at the facility, regional, and/or corporate levels.
- Develop and implement the PCA program company-wide.
- Assist with establishing standards for professional practice performance for all staff.
- Develop/enhance clinical and non-clinical competencies.
- Assist facilities with survey preparation, Joint Commission accreditation, and re-certification.
- Assist facilities with planning and organizing clinical operations where education and coaching is paramount in the delivery of optimal health care.
- Consistently collaborate with facility leadership as agents of change in creating an environment that promotes education and learning to hone the skills and knowledge of staff influencing positive resident outcomes.
- Identify learning needs of all staff and arrange for opportunities to meet those learning needs (whether on an individual basis or group presentations).
- Collaborate with nurse managers and regional and corporate team members to identify specific learning needs of the facilities, regions, or company-wide.
- Create and assist with implementation of Performance Improvement Plans at the facility, regional, and corporate levels.
- Develop lesson plans and “train the trainer” opportunities for the facilities to implement.
- Develop, provide, and present educational topics for other various audiences such as: student nurses, student CNA’s, AIT’s, interns, etc.
- Create educational materials, checklists, competencies, etc. for annual facility Skills Fair.
- Facilitate and oversee a mentor program for the nursing department focused on appropriate floor orientation and staff retention.
- Assist with development and delivery of community education opportunities at the facility, regional and corporate levels.
- Perform onsite facility visits to audit and present educational materials, programs, etc.
- Perform Educational Rounds that are designed to identify gaps in learning, gaps in evidence-based practice, and opportunities for teaching, coaching and nurturing of staff across all departments.
- Attend monthly meeting with the Corporate Clinical Team for updates in current standards of professional and evidence-based practice.
- Prepare, participate, and assist with Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs, projects, meetings, and trainings.
- Must attend in-service/education programs as required to learn new procedures and
- develop skills to meet regulatory compliance.
- Reports to Director of Nursing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) licensure issued by the State of New York.
- Baccalaureate or master’s degree in Nursing.
- Work experience in post-acute care, skilled nursing facilities, long-term care, or assisted living.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills in the areas of nursing administration, nursing practice, rehabilitation, and employee relations management.
- BLS/CPR certification.
- Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations specific to nursing home operation and licensure.
- Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with residents, families, vendors, visitors, government agencies, facility staff, hospital personnel, hospice representatives, and the general public.
- Must have excellent follow-through.
- Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, etc., that are necessary for providing quality individualized care.
- Ability to manage through delegation, goal setting, and building respect from all facility staff through use of positive leadership principles.
- Ability to formulate reports, disseminate information, interpret data, and coordinate with multiple departments.
- Must have knowledge of computer systems, systems applications, and other office equipment.
- Must have excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have working knowledge of fire, safety, and disaster procedures as it pertains to nursing homes.
- Must have the ability to promote positive interpersonal relationships through the use of
- tactful, direct and sensitive interaction.
- Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families, co-workers, and to
- Must be able to communicate verbally in a positive and professional manner.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
- Good organizational writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Thorough knowledge of the scope of practice of professional and paraprofessional healthcare.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- This job operates in a health care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the care center.
- Incumbent may be exposed to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens in working environment.
- Incumbent may be required to work extended periods of time at a video display terminal.
- Incumbent may experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric, and deceased patients.
- Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Must be able to stay or return to facility during emergency conditions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
