The Telecom Specialist is responsible for maintaining and updating alarm management and notifications for a national telecommunications provider. The right candidate will have current and relevant experience supporting the following switch technologies including: DMS10, DMS100, SL100, GTD5, 5ESS, EWSD, and/ or DCO. Additional experience updating command lines within the switch environment and supporting additional requirements within the environment as needed. Additional responsibilities for this role including supporting a 24x7 NOC environment providing ongoing support and point of contact for network escalations.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Telecom Specialist is responsible all Telecommunications matters and day-to-day support of both centralized and end-user voice and telecom solutions with close collaboration with Network Engineering, and Corporate Real Estate for physical installations
- The Specialist will plan and help execute enterprise-wide telecom-related projects and initiatives including day-to-day administration & operations, and support of telephony systems (including VoIP, TDM and legacy PBX systems)
- This role entails regular 24x7 off-hours escalation responsibilities and will report to the Telecom Network Operations Manager
- Develop, execute, maintain, and support technology for our first-class member call center
- Standardization of alarms and notifications within switch environments using proprietary commands lines
- Mitigate risks to Telecom service and ensure its availability by assessing, communicating, and triaging operational threats
Qualifications
- 2+ years networking infrastructure, service desk, or telecom networksupport environment required
- Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and written) with a variety of end-users and audiences
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP and the OSI stack
- Prior experience supporting an telecommunications provider environment required
- Experience with one or more of the following switch technologies is required: DMS10, DMS100, SL100, GTD5, 5ESS, EWSD, and/ or DCO
- Any process improvement or process related certifications a plus
- Knowledge and understanding of all relevant industry standards
- Knowledge and understanding of best practices for network operations service management
- Familiarity with quality assurance procedures and scorecards
- 2-or-4-year degree or relevant work experience in associated fields including Network Operations, Network Infrastructure, MIST highly preferred
