Staff Accountant – Accounts Payable and Capital Projects Coordinator
The Staff Accountant will support the financial team by assisting in Accounts Payable and Capital Projects coordination through data entry, validation of transaction details, financial reporting and communication with outside customers and suppliers. Attention to detail is imperative, as the position requires timely and accurate financial accounting in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
· Review and process Accounts Payable transactions
· Maintain Capital Project Assets within Microsoft Dynamics GP by keeping a record of project expenses, contracts, and other accounting data while coordinating with other groups within the organization
· Calculate Monthly Depreciation for all assets ensuring correct acquisition costs depreciation amounts are recorded
· Track company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations
· Maintain Master Data within Microsoft Dynamics GP
· Account Reconciliations
· Research and resolve accounting issues
· Assist in developing and improving accounting procedures and controls
· Extract data from the current system and preparing meaningful, value-added reporting
· Duties require broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex accounting issues
· Prepare and complete, on a timely and accurate basis, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing related duties under US GAAP
· Filing as needed
Requirements and Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree required in Accounting, Finance or equivalent work experience
· 2 – 5 years in accounting
· Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) experience is preferable, but not required if systems knowledge is comparable
· Candidate must have a general knowledge of accounting principles, financial chart of accounts and financial procedures
· Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
· Candidate must thrive in a team environment
· Candidate must have strong initiative (self-starter) and be deadline-oriented
· Candidate must have a strong attention to detail
· Candidate must be able to work well within an organization involving professionals and staff; be comfortable interacting with Corporate leadership and key department personnel, and possess diplomacy, enthusiasm, perseverance and a sense of humor
· Candidate must have discretion; works with confidential data, which if disclosed, might have significant internal effect or minor external effect
· Computer proficiency: Microsoft Word, Excel required
· Some overtime and travel to facilities are required
