Hotel Barrière Fouquet’s NYC - Tribeca is searching for a creative and motivated Pastry Chef to join our talented kitchen team. This position is responsible for the daily preparation of all baked goods and pastries while ensuring the highest standards of food quality and service. This position will directly report to the Executive Pastry Chef.
Responsibilities:

Preparation of all pastry items and all proper handling/storage of all food items in accordance with standards
- Prepares items from scratch such as breads, rolls, muffins, biscuits, pies, cakes, cookies pastries, and other desserts
- Follow recipes and instructions to ensure and maintain consistency and appropriate standards
- Knowledge of pastry ingredients and applications
- Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, patisserie items, etc
- Sets up, maintains, and breaks down station according to food operating guidelines
- Schedules production of all baked goods to maintain an inventory of fresh baked goods at all times
- Cleans and maintains station while practicing exceptional safety, sanitation and organizational skills
- Follows defined food sanitation guidelines in preparation of food product and maintaining work environment
- Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training
- Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner
- Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments
- Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated
- Excellent knowledge of food handling, processing techniques, and cooking
- Communicate when any product is low or of poor quality to the Executive Pastry Chef
- Minimizing waste and inspecting all raw materials to ensure quality standards are met
- Implements all DOH requirements and HACCP safety program across all kitchens
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years' experience in a restaurant with a focus on pastry

Be able to reach, bend, stoop frequently and lift up to 30 pounds

Knowledge of classic and modern pastry techniques

Knowledge of yeasted doughs, preferments and lamination

General food safety & sanitation knowledge
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time, and have holiday availability
- Ability to take direction, work in a team environment, and work calmly and effectively under pressure
- Must be available to work on different shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Must be a team player
- Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and sanitation skills according to Department of Health standards for hygiene and safe food handling
