Job Overview:
The Chemical Procurement Manager will be responsible for managing the procurement and sourcing activities of raw materials, chemicals, and supplies essential for our manufacturing operations. This role requires strategic thinking, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to build effective supplier relationships. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of chemical procurement processes, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Strategy:
- Develop and implement strategic procurement plans aligned with company goals and production requirements.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize procurement processes to improve efficiency and profitability.
Supplier Management:
- Source, select, and negotiate with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and timely delivery of chemicals and raw materials.
- Maintain supplier relationships and manage performance through regular evaluations and contract negotiations.
- Resolve supplier-related issues and ensure compliance with contractual agreements and quality standards.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels of chemicals and raw materials to meet production demands and minimize stock outs or excess inventory.
- Implement inventory control measures and procedures to optimize inventory turnover and reduce holding costs.
Risk Management:
- Assess and mitigate risks related to procurement activities, such as supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, and regulatory changes.
- Develop contingency plans and alternative sourcing strategies to ensure continuity of supply.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and environmental regulations related to chemical procurement.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, contracts, and supplier agreements.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality assurance, and finance, to align procurement activities with operational needs and business objectives.
- Provide leadership and guidance to procurement staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Chemistry, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management within the chemical manufacturing industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing procurement operations, negotiating contracts, and achieving cost savings.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of chemical market trends, supplier networks, and regulatory requirements.
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) is a plus.
