Work Location: Gorham, Maine (Not a Remote Position)
The Director of IT position, reporting directly to the Vice President of IT, manages critical IT operations and supports our strategic initiatives. The Director of IT uses their background in IT management, with a focus on operational excellence, strategic planning, and team leadership. The Director, IT is expected to perform the following essential functions of the role:
- Oversee the daily operations of IT departments, ensuring efficient and effective technical support for all internal and external systems.
- Collaborate with the VP of IT to develop and implement strategic IT projects and enhancements.
- Direct the IT management team fostering a collaborative environment and promoting professional development. Create personalized career development plans to enhance IT staff competencies, ensuring alignment with both individual career goals and the strategic objectives of the organization.
- Champion the ongoing education of the IT department staff. Develop and implement comprehensive training programs tailored to the evolving technological landscape and organizational needs.
- Develop and oversee a framework for IT performance metrics that accurately reflects the efficiency and effectiveness of IT services and infrastructure.
- Provide regular reports to the VP of IT, on IT department performance, challenges, and the status of ongoing projects.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and organizational policies, including PCI, HIPAA, and CARF regulations.
- Assist in the preparation and management of the IT department’s budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Coordinate with external vendors and service providers to ensure that the organization’s IT requirements are met.
- Maintain and test the disaster recovery plan and business continuity procedures. Ensure that all critical systems have failover capabilities, and that staff are trained to execute plans in the event of major disruptions.
- Ensure adherence to policies and best practices for IT security and risk management.
- Serve as a key liaison between IT and other departments, facilitating communication and project success.
- Support the VP of IT in strategic planning and execution, providing insights and recommendations for improving IT services and infrastructure.
- Monitor technological trends and advancements to drive innovation within the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.
- At least seven (7) years of experience in IT operations and management.
- Proven experience in leading IT teams and projects.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, systems integration, and digital transformation.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and optimize costs.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and information security standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as PMP, ITIL, or relevant technical certifications.
- Experience in the non-profit sector and understanding its unique challenges.
