Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for managing the individualized patient care by promoting and restoring patients' health through the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing support to patients.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Identifies patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients
- Gathers baseline conditioning/cardiac status through current treadmill evaluations
- Conducts 1:1 consultation to further inform patients and their families of cardiac rehab environment with review of heart event, CAD risk factors, medication compliance, and past medical history
- Monitors telemetry during cardiac rehab classes
- Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support in a professional manner to patients and families.
- Gathers current medication list and ensures patients fully understand reason for and actions of all medications
- Contact physician if indicated to modify medication regime
- Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals, and making or recommending necessary adjustments
- Evaluates physical complaints by thoroughly questioning and performing physical assessment
- Recognize need for interventions in evaluation of angina, hypertension, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and takes appropriate medical action
- Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care team members
- Emergency support when necessary
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must have ability to multi-task
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Requires the ability to work under minimal supervision and assume responsibilities for task initiation and completion
- Basic computer knowledge with experience using Microsoft Office 365
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Cardiac Rehab and/or Outpatient experience preferred
- Current Colorado RN License
- BSN from accredited University preferred
- BLS/ACLS, & critical care experience strongly preferred
- Basic EKG Interpretation experience: 12-lead EKG Interpretation experience preferred
- Familiarity with ACSM Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescriptions and AACVPR Guidelines for Cardiac Rehab preferred
- EPIC EMR system experience preferred
- Background check and drug test required (includes credit, justice, worker’s comp)
- At least 6 months of nursing experience required, including ECG as needed
- Background check required (includes credit, justice, worker’s comp)
- Drug screening
- Covid-19 Vaccination Required
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
- Ability to assist with adult patient in emergencies as needed
