Middle School Theology Teacher/Religion Coordinator
Walsingham Academy, located in Williamsburg, VA, seeks a Middle School Theology Teacher/Religion Coordinator for the 2024-2025 academic year. The Academy is an independent Catholic school, sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy.
This position has dual roles: As Middle School Theology teacher, creates and implements lesson plans based on the curriculum of the Diocese of Richmond which cover a variety of subjects including Sacred Scripture, Church History, Morality, the Sacraments, and Christian Life. The Middle School Theology courses seek to help students grow both intellectually and spiritually with regards to the Christian faith that is so essential to Walsingham Academy. As Religion Coordinator, responsible for maintaining contact with the Diocese regarding the implementation of the Theology curriculum, teacher certifications and professional development, and the spiritual life of the school. They will assist in preparing and setting up for Masses, prayer services, and other religious events in the life of the school. They are to aid in the training of students to act as altar servers and lectors for school Masses. Additionally, they will seek to develop retreat opportunities for students at a variety of grade levels.
