JOB DESCRIPTION
First Class Air Holdings is seeking a Vice President of Engineering with experience managing agile development teams. This role will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all aspects of engineering activities and projects within the organization. This role will collaborate with executive leadership to help guide the organization’s vision, all while maintaining compliance with quality standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead, supervise, and direct the efforts of engineering teams to ensure optimal performance.

Design, implement, and monitor all operations, focusing on key performance metrics and operational efficiency within the engineering business.

Establish, communicate, and implement engineering and development policies, practices, standards, and security measures for effective and consistent operations.

Oversee the preparation and final approval of comprehensive project plans.

Collaborate with executive personnel to develop and achieve organizational goals, providing expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems.

Set and implement the strategic direction of the organization's engineering initiatives, with an explicit focus on business unit growth.

Lead and coordinate operational teams to ensure compliance with FAA regulations, including but not limited to the production of Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA) for new designs and FAA Designated Engineer approval (DER) for new repairs.

Review and approve FAA design packages to ensure regulatory compliance.

Take responsibility for meeting new delivery dates in alignment with organizational objectives.

Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in engineering within the aviation industry, with a keen eye on opportunities for business unit growth.

Engage in negotiations for contracts, ensuring that agreements support the production of new designs and repairs while adhering to regulatory requirements.

Provide strategic oversight and direction for multiple engineering disciplines (including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.) to efficiently deliver design solutions.

Motivate and inspire teams, instilling accountability, and achieving results that contribute to the overall growth of the business unit.

Take charge of the entire talent management process, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisal, and conflict resolution.

Collaborate with team members at all levels of the organization to optimize manufacturing capabilities, production methods, and scheduling, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained.

Be accountable for meeting departmental budget requirements while strategically allocating resources for maximum efficiency and sustained business unit growth.

You will need to have…

Bachelor’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering from accredited institution.

Requires 10+ years of leadership experience.

Deep knowledge working with both software development and with hardware engineering.

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Must have excellent organizational skills.

Ability to supervise and direct the efforts of internal engineers and technicians as well as outside suppliers.

Strong leadership and managerial skills

Strong verbal, visual, and written communication skills with the ability to explain approach to all levels in the organization, including key stakeholders.

5+ years of experience using 3D CAD software (Pro-Engineer, Solidworks, etc.)

10 years of aerospace/ mechanical design experience
Knowledge of FAA regulations
