Qualified candidates would have a minimum of one year related experience (preferred but not required) and the ability to work well in a fast paced environment. Culinary Degree or Certificate and/or experience in creating culinary displays would be a plus but not required. Weekend availability required. Full-time and part-time positions are available. Opportunities for a range of experience levels. Rate of pay (min starting at $18+) will depend on experience of candidate. Full Job Description:
Job Title: Banquet/Function Production Chef
Responsibilities:
· Understand and follow Lakeview’s policies and procedures
· Maintain clear, open and teamwork orientated communication with BOH staff, Event Manager and other event staff to maximize
· Maintain clean and sanitary environment with knowledge of and adherence to proper food handling, storage and sanitation.
· Comply with all related federal, state and local requirements and codes
· Maintain clean and organized work and storage areas at all times
· Prepare all food items as directed in a timely manner and according to portion control, presentation and recipe specifications as set by Lakeview
· Properly use and maintain kitchen equipment
· Maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance and comply with Lakeview’s uniform policy (Standard Chef uniform includes chef coat, black pants, black non-slip shoes (no sneakers) and hat)
· Perform additional tasks as requested by Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Manager, as needed and assigned
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
· Minimum 1 year of experience (preferred)
· Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
· Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation and food handling procedures
· Must obtain and maintain SERVE-SAFE Certification
· Ability to perform required duties effectively in a fast paced environment, under short time constraints, and within established deadlines
· Positive demeanor and ability to maintain professionalism and composure
· Ability to take direction, follow instructions, work well with others in a team environment, and to effectively verbally communicate with guests, co-workers, Managers and vendors
· Must be able to work weekdays and weekends as well as some weeknights and holidays. Event schedule will vary based on fluctuating business demands
Physical Demands:
· Constantly stand and frequently walk short distances for an entire work shift (up to 12 hours)
· Frequently crouch & stoop (some examples include lifting heavy objects, accessing lower shelves, retrieving items from ovens)
· Frequently twist (some examples include preparing/cooking food on multiple surfaces, place/retrieve items, performing duties on the line)
· Occasionally climb (some examples include using stairs and a ladder, retrieving supplies and accessing locker and break rooms when elevator is not operational or available
· Frequently balance (some examples include carrying food/supplies and working near hot equipment)
· Frequently reach overhead (some examples include reaching for objects and working the line)
· Regularly pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs using racks and carts and rarely pushing/pulling up to 200 lbs using racks and carts.
· Regularly lift/carry/place objects weighing up to 60 pounds without assistance
· Regularly required to talk and hear
· Constantly use hands and fingers to handle, grasp or touch food, knives, utensils, and other items and equipment
