Seeking a motivated individual with medical office experience to train as an ophthalmic technician or medical scribe. This is an outstanding opportunity for on the job training to learn a new skill set and career. You will be working primarily at our beautiful Lakeville, CT location in a congenial atmosphere. Some travel to other sites is also needed. Duties include patient intake, assisting in examinations and electronic medical record documentation as well as performing eye related diagnostic testing. You will learn to utilize a wide range of advanced instrumentation including visual field analyzers, optical laser scanners and many others. Hours typically 8:30 to 5:00 Monday through Friday.
Duties:
- Perform diagnostic tests and measurements on patients' eyes, including visual acuity, lensometry, and tonometry
- Assist ophthalmologists in various procedures, such as eye exams, surgeries, and laser treatments
- Administer eye drops and medications as directed by the ophthalmologist
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment
- Educate patients on proper eye care and contact lens use
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience as an ophthalmic technician or in a related field preferred (but willing to consider the right person who is ready to learn)
- Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

Pay: $18.00 - $22.45 per hour
