Site Data Lead

The Site Data Lead will be based out of Fort Edward, NY. This is a permanent, full-time position. The Site Data Lead is the data and systems focused member of the Continuous Improvement team. In this role you will design, implement, and manage the Reporting and Analytics strategy in support of the overall Corporate Data Strategy, and support in continuous improvement initiatives across the Fort Edward Tissue site.
You will design and develop reporting and analytics solutions using data gathered from machine sensors and production systems to support data-driven decision making. As the Site Data Lead, you have a passion for turning multiple streams of data into organized and actionable analytical products and services. You believe in the importance of user-friendly design as demonstrated by your enthusiasm and advocacy for UI/UX philosophies and aesthetically pleasing design. You have a growth mindset, are knowledgeable, entrepreneurial, self-directed, confident, and passionate about your mission to create positive change through reporting and analytics. In addition, you have an interest in Continuous Improvement.
You will work closely with the Continuous Improvement Leader to influence our Corporate Data Strategy. This role is about more than building tools, it is about building a culture that is data-driven and lean.
Job Requirements
- Postsecondary education in Data Science and Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar field of study
- 1-2 years of Reporting experience in:
- Designing and implementing reporting solutions (Excel, PowerBI, Alteryx, etc.)
- Querying SQL/NoSQL databases and RESTful APIs
- Designing, developing, and communicating KPIs to business stakeholders
- Creating mockups and prototypes to facilitate report design
- Developing reporting solutions that are scalable, sustainable, and easy to maintain
- Advanced skills in data analysis (Power BI, SQL Server, Excel, MS Power Apps, MS Power Automate, etc.)
- Creating complex DAX calculations and measures to support data analysis
- Exposure to (AVEVA OSISoft Pi, PARCview, ITop / RtDuet, JD Edwards) would be beneficial
The main duties/responsibilities of this role include:
Solutions Development
- Build tools, dashboards, and apps to make the way our employees work easier, quicker, and more informed. This will include:
- Building and maintaining mobile Apps in MS Power Apps
- Building dashboards in Power Bi, PARCview, Pi Vision and other applications
- Provide input to prioritize and execute on the development of reporting and analytics solutions in support of the Reporting and Analytics strategy
- End-to-end development of reporting and analytics solutions
- Analyze, study and test data inputs and outputs to ensure quality
- Develop solutions within the organization’s available technology stack
- Employ various data gathering techniques to ensure proper solution design (workshops, focus groups, questionnaires, surveys, etc.)
Project Coordination
- Help the team to improve how we use our systems and introduce new features and modules to the business.
- Help develop system standards and roadmap for all core systems in business
- Create a project plan to implement changes at the site
- Measure progress and report on implementation progress
- Facilitate team meetings to get feedback from team on implementation progress
- Escalate and resolve issues related to project implementation
Training Content Creation
- Develop interesting and easy to access training materials / tips for how to work with the various tools and systems available to employees
- Coach and mentor supervisors/leaders/managers/process engineers to improve analytical capabilities across our manufacturing sites
- Develop processes and standards for reporting and analytics that others can adopt and follow
- Listen to feedback from frontline employees on how to improve the systems we use to drive our business
- Create training videos and content that is visually appealing and easy to understand
Continuous Improvement
- Opportunities to develop into a data-driven continuous improvement role, which would include:
- Support the business improvement strategy for the site. This includes identifying opportunities, establishing, and determining workgroup objectives, determining timelines, ensuring robust measures and controls, resources requirements, and follow up.
- Support and execute improvement initiatives utilizing methodologies and tools such as DMAIC, PDCA, RCA, VSM, TPM, SPC and Kaizen.
- Plan and facilitate kaizen events, workshops, and focus groups.
