We are seeking a Railroad Track Foreman who would be responsible for managing and directing the day-to-day activities of a track crew and all duties involved with the construction, maintenance, inspection, and repair of railroad tracks. Candidates for this position should be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and be able to demonstrate leadership skills with a background in railroad construction and maintenance.
While a regular work week for this position is Monday through Friday, at times weekend, night and holiday work will be required. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.
Responsibilities:
· Supervise and safely manage a track crew to perform all aspects of track maintenance and construction.
· Conduct and organize safety meetings.
· Oversee and ensure that all safety rules are being followed at all times.
· Delegate responsibilities and individual projects to the crew.
· Positive attitude, the ability to motivate team members on site, and the skills to communicate and report effectively.
· Resolve conflicts or miscommunication that may happen on-site quickly and amicably.
· Recognize, avoid, and report potential hazards.
· Establish and maintain a line of communication with customers to ensure a high level of client satisfaction.
· Conducts daily job briefings with crew to review the production goals, performance feedback as relates to efficiency, identify potential hazards, and welcome feedback from the workers.
· Produces daily production reports, tracks project time, keeps permits, equipment logs, JSA’s, inspection reports, and keeps updated project files.
· Accurately record all labor, equipment, and material on time sheets daily.
Requirements:
· Verifiable strong working heavy construction foreman experience, no railroad experience needed.
· Maintain valid driver’s license, subject to motor vehicle report review.
· Valid TWIC Card
· Ability to work the posted schedule and overtime as necessary including nights, weekends, and holidays.
· Knowledge of all aspects of track construction and maintenance
· Able to inspect and recognize any deviation from track safety standards and have the ability to diagnose, prescribe and perform the procedures to correct.
· Ability to keep records and to prepare work and time reports.
· Ability to quickly respond to unplanned events or circumstances.
· Ability to work anywhere within the company in variable/extreme weather conditions.
· Ability to follow proper safety and housekeeping procedures pertaining to the area.
· Ability to read, speak and write in English.
· Physical ability to stand; walk; sit; use hands; talk or hear; climb stairs and/or ladders; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; ability to use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and adjust focus.
· Must be able to work outdoors in all types of extreme weather conditions, including very hot, very cold, rain, fog and dust.
· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
· May be exposed to live track/trains, moving equipment and high voltage.
· Must wear and enforce the use of appropriate safety equipment, such as safety glasses, safety boots, hard hats, hearing protection, as required by the company.
