Canyon Creek Christian Academy is looking for a 1st grade teacher for our Charlotte Mason hybrid co-op.
Hours for this position are M, W, TR from 8am-2pm on campus and you can expect to spend about 6 hours a week at home lesson planning and preparing work for the home days for students.
We are looking for a teacher who takes their commitment to the students seriously, who loves Jesus and has an active walk of faith with the Lord, who is passionate about teaching with the principles of Charlotte Mason, someone who loves being outside in all sorts of weather and helps the students grow in their love of the outdoors, someone with teaching experience and who loves to teach. Having Charlotte Mason experience and knowledge is a huge plus but not required. However, we do require that you are willing to learn the Charlotte Mason philosophy and methodology and teach from that.
Teacher Job Responsibilities:
- Maintains a growth mindset toward student learning, teaching practice, and personal/collective professional development
- Invests in the learners’ well-being, health, and safety, physically, socially, and emotionally.
- Recognizes the relationship between social-emotional learning and academic performance, and aspires toward developing and teaching the whole child and treats the child as a person.
- Designs and facilitates reinforcement work for parents to complete with their students on home days (Tuesday and Friday).
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Will do learn specific teaching styles for Spell to Write and Read and Charlotte Mason
- Must be able to easily use a computer and communicate with parents via email
- Excellent communication skills
Qualifications/Skills:
- Knowledge of instructional methods appropriate for students at the respective grade level. At Canyon Creek we teach with a Charlotte Mason philosophy so teachers will be required to learn how to teach from this mindset
- Desire and ability to work with students at the specified age level with diverse backgrounds and levels of ability toward accomplishing their educational goals.
- Ability to organize tasks and manage time to meet many and varied deadlines; manage students in a classroom environment; and communicate effectively with students, parents, school administrators and other staff, including the ability to discuss topics which may be sensitive.
- Working familiarity with assistive technologies; internet and email systems; and word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet software.
- Familiarity with computers (PC and Apple)
Licensing Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in education or related field
- Recent teaching experience, coursework, or other activity in area of primary instruction
- Demonstrated knowledge of current instructional strategies appropriate for students at the specified grade level
- Previous experience teaching the age levels and subject areas of the specific teaching position
