SUMMARY
The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for managing and coordinating all functions related to the movement of freight out of the warehouse, maintaining prescribed service levels while keeping costs at a minimum, and maintaining shipping accuracy. Accounts for shipping accuracy and performance and follows up with the appropriate corrective or preventative action.
IN THIS ROLE, THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL
Labor Management:

Monitor order volume and ensure efficient distribution for picking

Develop and implement work schedules and assignments to ensure efficient operation

Apply sound communication and motivational techniques in supervising, coaching, and disciplining employees
Sales Orders:
-
Monitor order volume and ensure efficient distribution for picking
-
Ensure that orders printed prior to 5pm are shipped the same day –On going
-
Ensure that orders are checked for accuracy prior to shipment
-
Ensure that orders are packed to standard requirements
-
Ensure that orders are labeled correctly
-
Ensure that LTL orders are palletized correctly
-
Ensure accuracy of picking activities
Backorders:
-
Coordinate same-day backorder shipment for all orders released prior to 5pm
Shipping:
-
Coordinate standard and special pickups with small parcel carrier
-
Coordinate standard and special pickups with LTL carrier
-
Submit freight claims with both small parcel and LTL carriers
-
Ensure priority processing of will-call orders
-
Manage customer-specific shipping requirements to ensure compliance, including retail shipments
Housekeeping:
-
Ensure neat, clean, and organized personal work area
-
Ensure neat, clean, and organized shipping line
-
Ensure neat, clean, and organized picking areas
-
Monitor and direct planned maintenance on equipment used by the shipping team
-
Any additional duties assigned by management
Supervisory Responsibilities
Stafford, TX Warehouse Team, 2nd Shift (Noon-9p)
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and/or experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:

Minimum completion of High School diploma or equivalent

Associates degree in General Business or similar
-
5+ years of previous experience in warehouse receiving or similar
-
Minimum 3 years of leadership/Supervisory experience
-
Knowledge of shipping procedures and general warehousing terminology and practices
-
Skills in mathematics, spreadsheets, and personal computers are vital
-
Familiarity with the JD Edwards/One World system is preferred, but not required
-
Accuracy and thoroughness with attention to detail is essential
-
Interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with different departments and various levels of employees is critical
-
Ability to handle physical workload – job requires repetitive lifting, standing, squatting, reaching, pushing, pulling, etc. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Manual labor positions include maintenance, warehouse, transportation, and other positions whose primary duties involve physical labor and exertion. Maintenance positions frequently operate machinery and other equipment, and clean and maintain various grounds, equipment, lighting, and other facility items. The type of work performed by persons in these positions include shipping, electrical, and picking/packing work. Persons holding transportation positions regularly operate vehicles and transport mail, packages, and other goods. Warehouse positions constantly handle equipment, packages, and other goods. Employees in manual labor positions are often required to operate a computer, read, and write. They are frequently required to communicate and interact with others, in person and over computers, phones and other devices. In addition, they are frequently required to reach, twist, lift, carry, push, and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Persons holding manual labor positions work at specific Legend locations, but may occasionally be required to travel to other locations, as needed. Employees in these positions are frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to hot or cold weather, and wet and/or humid conditions. Positions may also be exposed to high, precarious places requiring PPE. The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to occasionally loud.
