Purpose and Scope
STAR Academy Charter School is looking for a dynamic personality to join our front office school team for the 2024-2025 school year!
The GOS serves visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately; notifies company personnel of visitor arrival; and assists with the overall operations of administrative functions.
Essential Job Functions
The responsibilities of the General Office Secretary are, but not limited to, the following:
- Meeting and greeting scholars, parents, guests, and staff as they enter and exit the school in a welcoming and professional manner;
- Answer phones; send and receive faxes; open and distribute mail to the appropriate staff member;
- Serve as a one stop resource for callers and visitors that have general inquiries;
- Responsible for filing and maintenance of student files;
- Responsible for accurately recording and tracking attendance, tardies, and other scholar reporting;
- Assist with scholar enrollment and orientation;
- Have in depth knowledge of all front office operations and systems including but not limited to PowerSchool Student Information, Attendance entry and tracking, InfoSnap Enrollment, and EIS,
- Provide clerical and programmatic support to school administrators and staff; and,
- Ensures that the main office is neat, organized, welcoming and has all important parent-facing materials
- Accurately inputs data into student information systems in compliance with federal, state, district and school expectations; and,
- Assists with printing report cards/progress reports.
- Assists with student enrollment and withdrawal processes; and,
- Assists with maintenance of student records to ensure they are complete and up-to-date(contact information, enrollment documents, immunizations, etc..).
- Composes, prepares, types, copies, files, processes, mails and/or transmits various routine documents, which may include forms, correspondence, memos, presentation materials, reports and other documents.
- Maintains efficient record-keeping systems.
- Receives and responds to basic inquiries, routine requests for assistance and concerns from other District departments, schools, agencies, organizations, professionals and the public.
- Attends staff, committee and District meetings as required.
- Attends training, meetings, seminars and/or workshops to enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Associates degree preferred.
2+ years of experience as an office secretary or office assistant role in a school environment; Bilingual a plus

Physical Requirements and Working Environment
Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular basis; and some dexterity in operating office equipment.
Unavoidable Hazards: The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards.
Sensory (Ada) Requirements: The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 per year
