Summary
Cooler Team Members handle field run bulk syrup (in large drums), filling silos and sugar tanks in preparation of production runs, and cleaning empty syrup drums. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate record keeping and inventory control.
Major Responsibilities/Activities
- Receive incoming syrup-weigh, grade, taste, and record applicable information.
- Wait on producers purchasing field run syrup.
- Test syrup for invert sugar as needed for production runs.
- Maintain a clean and organized cooler, including drum warehouse, pumping area, and silo rooms/silos. Complete cleaning in compliance with established schedules.
- Pump syrup from drums into silos.
- Steam clean empty drums for return to producers.
- Load drums on outgoing trucks.
- Assist with monthly inventory counts and inventory segregation.
- Follow Quality Control programs and report problems to manager immediately.
- Other tasks as requested.
Minimum Requirements
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Math Skills-counting, basic arithmetic
- Reading and legible writing skills for recordkeeping
- Ability to grade syrup (differentiation of flavors and colors)
- Forklift experience preferred, or ability to become certified.
- Valid driver's license strongly preferred.
Essential Physical & Mental Functions
While performing the duties of this job, the Cooler Attendant must be able to complete tasks with high accuracy, be a team player with the ability to problem-solve and work independently. The employee is required to regularly interact with producers and drivers in a professional, courteous manner. Consistent attendance is required. The Cooler Attendant must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, and bending during the entire shift. The position is performed both indoors in cool temperatures, and outside in varying weather. The employee must frequently lift/move items weighing up to 60 pounds. The Cooler Attendant must be able to distinguish colors and taste flavor variations for syrup grading.
