Job Description
Journeyman Meat Cutter that will be responsible for cutting and trimming meat products following best practices to meet customer needs. Culinary experience is not applicable. We are looking for experienced butchers and meat cutters. Ability to break down primals and whole animals necessary. You will be required to do a cut test with a journeyman butcher with 25 years of experience.
Job Duties Include:
- Provide high quality customer service and assist counter when needed.
- Knowing all cuts and ability to cut meat from larger portions into steaks, chops, roasts, and other cuts utilizing a variety of tools including saws, knives, and grinders.
- Must be consistent with cuts and keep displays to Edwards standards.
- Maintain equipment through regular cleaning and routine repairs, including sharpening knives and saws.
- Handle deliveries, organize coolers, and be flexible to other duties assigned.
- Operate electric meat saws, grinders and other meat processing equipment in a safe manner.
- Be dependable, reliable, and punctual.
- Enjoy a fast-paced environment and working with all types of meat production.
- Must be able to communicate production status and communicate problems to proper personnel.
- Ability to properly follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work proactively and support other employees.
- Ability to work in different work environments including coolers and freezers.
- Must be able to stand for up to 4 hours continuously and for a total of 8 hours per shift.
- Must be flexible and willing to work with the demands of the store which require evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Five years experience preferred.
- Familiarity with meat production equipment, specifically grinders, patty makers, custom butcher cuts, dicing and packaging to include Cryovac machines.
- Sausage making skills
- USDA and HACCP Knowledgeable.

Weekends and holidays are our busy times and you’ll be working them regularly. Hours can vary, ideal availability will be between 7:00 am - 7:00 pm. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
