Lakehead Constructors, Inc. is seeking an Industrial Painting/Coating Foreman to join its team. Classification requires a higher degree of journey-level skills and must possess leadership abilities and a high degree of independence exercised in carrying out assigned duties. Comes with the knowledge and ability to prepare steel surfaces and apply industrial coatings in various environments and industries. Has the ability to oversee surface preparation and application. Brings a safety-first mindset to the project and team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following (other duties may be assigned as required):
- Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work related to maintenance and repair of interior and exterior building surfaces, equipment and piping involving paint and tanks; assists in planning, estimating and scheduling painting work accordingly.
- Apply coatings through conventional, airless, and plural spray systems.
- Operate various types of equipment such as air compressors, blast pots and spray guns.
- Reads/understands specifications regarding surface preparation, mill application and color.
- Reads work order or receives instructions from supervisor regarding painting or coating.
- Follow company and customer safety requirements.
- Reads MSDS and takes and plans for proper precautions for product used.
- Mixes required portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying substances to prepare paint that matches specified colors.
- Paints surfaces with brushes, spray gun, or paint rollers.

Knowledge of:

Ability to:
- Plan, layout and supervise the work of a crew of apprentice to journey level workers in the painting trade.
- Determine priorities and make long range schedules for completion.
- Prepare surfaces and apply other surface coatings to buildings, equipment, and piping.
- Train and provide work direction to assigned personnel.
- Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Observe health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Plan and layout painting work.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effecting working relationships with others.
- Meet schedules and timelines.
- Work independently with little direction.
- Prepare and maintain reports related to work performed.
Education and/or Experience:
Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school/GED program and 3 years of journey-level experience in the painting trade including some experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.
